Pointless bullst politics to fixate on the carbon dioxide levels of cars such as this - all the while letting industry do whatever it wants (of course - governments tell people what to do; not business). It matters hugely how much pollution a Ford Fiesta creates - because there are so many of them. It is self-evident that cars that sell in fewer numbers should be subject to fewer controls.
A bit of extra road tax is a bonus to government coffers, and that benefits everyone. They get you one way or the other, and if you've got a massive income then paying car running costs and taxes affects your quality of life less than someone on a low income.
From the movie 'Taken', but applies to any government taxation plan!:
Jean-Claude: [Angrily] 'My salary is X. My expenses are Y. As long as my family is provided for, I do not care where the difference comes from.'

I guess the GT3 will be NA for this generation, but be turbocharged for the next generation.

It's grey, yes it is.
I know you're joking, but I imagine a lot of these are bought by people that can afford a German super saloon or estate, but want something that feels a bit more special to own.

Mr Porsche isn't going to turn back the clock. The world moves on, leaving a small handful of Victor Meldrews to rant pointlessly about how it's all gone to the dogs.

Meanwhile we're out enjoying our excellent modern Porsches. driving
That made me laugh. It's so true. It also gives Victor a handy excuse not to buy a £80k+ car.

Nobody needs an 'excuse' not to buy an £80k car. £80k is all the excuse you'll ever need!

Very true. Victor would indeed be forced to buy a 25 year old one for £45-50k and spend st loads on upkeep instead.

R8 closest rival? Surely that would be an Evora 400 as it's the only other 2+2.

Still entirely devoid of character, like a turbo. Just blare. A loud exhaust attached to a mundane engine.
You haven't tried one, now have you?

I like the minor styling tweaks but with each new version of the 911 it seems to leave me colder and colder. The normal 911 isn't exciting any more frown
I think the opposite - these cars look fantastic.

A friend has just bought a targa, which was parked next to my car for a bit of direct comparison (both are black, too).

The Porsche is stunning, and looks genuinely like a junior supercar in the metal. Not much that makes a V8 Vantage look ordinary (certainly not the 997); but the 991 has done it.

The 911 has gone upmarket - and it's not such a bad thing.

Upmarket and st is a fair summary of the 991.2.
