Sounds great. Looks impressive as it rotates, shifts weight, and otherwise negotiates those curves. The video truly delivers on the Lotus USP of handling like no other.

Oh... and this video is made for adults; it's not cloying; it's not self important. Other OEMs take note!

same engine in the exige s comes to 60 mph in 3.7 secs
the evora is designed more as a gt car , much more refined and better for it in my opinion.

My view is slightly different and perhaps a bit in keeping with Autocar?

The new Evora is a better car in almost all respects...but, I personally thought the steering had lost the critical feel (everything for me), and the seat cushion was too hard, so you fell less connected and on top of the car. They are reputed to be altering these things due to customer feedback...I am not the only one.
Sounds really good and it is clearly faster and more stable than the previous S, but to be honest the S feels more alive and subsequently more fun. At the end of the day the car has to appeal to more people, not just hardcore nutters!

I`ll buy an IPS when they sort out the above two comments, which they might have done? I have had my IPS upgraded to the latest spec for the S car (and its fantastic now), and apparently talking to their software guy, the new IPS is another level, and a "very" quick track car...strangely though I prefer an IPS on the road, not the track.

Great little video...its not a McLaren, but then it`s a third of the price and I`d say 8-9/10ths as good...

What changes are you finding with the IPS update CTE? Mine was supposed to have been done when the car was serviced last week, but not sensing any real change.

No comment thus far about not having four propah seats and slightly inferior switchgear.

All the changes so far seem to be sensible and productive moves to make the company and their cars better.

Just hope this is not another false dawn. The Evora looks so much better now that previously.

Hopefully the next jump will at least bllod the nose severly of Porschar. Though of course not having four propar seats will be an issue.

Got an Evora S and love it but a 400 at more than twice the price I paid for my low mileage example no thanks. On the road an S is fast enough fairly economical shore its got got faults but until they design a twin clutch gear box the heavy anoying IPS is a not worth considering. Stick with the manual.

I know its more complicated but they should of twin turbo'ed the 400 for that money and taken it to the next level of performance and refinement.

I'm selling my 964RS Cup car, and looking for something that's OK on track and more usable as a road car. I drove both the S and 400 back to back on Sunday, and would agree with CTE's comments. Drove the S first and really enjoyed it - first time I've ever driven a Lotus and pretty much lived up to expectation. The only slight negative was that I felt that it could do with, and handle, a bit more power. Chassis was superb, and felt like a softer version of my RS (a good thing!). Into the 400, and first thought was 'How do I lower the seat?'. It felt like I was sitting on rather than in the seat more - are the seat shells different? You could feel the extra power, and the suspension feels a bit stiffer, but there seemed to be less feedback through the steering. Right now, I'd probably go for an S, and look for a slight power upgrade. Also, best part of 80K puts the 400 up against a fully specced up Cayman GT4, whereas a late S can be had for 50K.

i think the supercharged 400 has a much more linear power delivery compared say to the noble m400 which was twin turbo charged .
the noble acceleration was quicker and maybe more aggressive , but i do prefer the way the evora delivers its power, its much smoother without that turbo punch. it leaves you with much more confidence when pushing on. it is also deceptively fast .

Love it - I'd take the Exige personally as I'm not in need of this 2+2 malarkey at the moment, but I certainly wouldn't blame those who did - what a fabulous machine.

Guess jumping from my Evora S to my Focus Rs still love the turbo punch from the high torque but the Evora would be harder to drive fast with turbo's but more mid range torque would of been nice in the new 400 and its hard to see why it is more or less the same as an S unless it is mapped that way to preserve the drive train ?

Maybe the EV430 upgrade would see you sorted, Ian -

Seats have changed for the 400 - I'll have to go back through my notes but I *think* they've gone from a Recaro to a Sparco. Whichever way round it is, they are definitely different on the 400 from previous Evoras.

Cheers,

Dan

What a sad car. I hope Lotus gets his stuff together because that market segment is dominated by Porsche. They really should make something special, not some reworked old car that was never really anything to write home about.

You mean like the 911, that's been reworked since 1963? If you really must troll, please try harder.
