In the right colour & trim I think it'll look better than the Mazda

Like fk it will. It deserves to be burned at a stake. Much like Fiats directors for signing this off.

I seem to remember the PH boards being filled with similar vitriol when the Mito was launched

I really don't like the latest MX5 in pictures or on the road, the lights just don't look right at all.

I think this looks good, has a decent nod to Fiat convertibles of old and with decent underpinnings, would be my choice without a doubt.

Were they aiming to get the silhouette to look like an NC MX5? It maybe the wheels that don't help.

That's truly offensive.

I dare say the ugly stick broke in two, such was the force this thing was hit with it! No problem - Fiat's huge resources will soon see a new stick whittled and ready for swinging in the direction of the next ill-fated travesty in no time at all.

It looks dated already. Especially compared to the lovely sharp lines of the MX-5

It's going to have to be a damn site cheaper than the MX5, that's all I can say...

I'll file this under "missed opportunity".

On the outside it looks like an American car company tried to interpret the European small sports car genre but forgot to involve some Europeans in the process. I like the simplicity of the interior though.

The Fiat is much more elegant with horizontal lines that flow. BUT has Fiat really lost it's reputation for rust, unreliability & dreadful depreciation. If so it could be the more imaginative left-field MANS choice especially in Abarth form.
By comparison Mazda looks too stunted, dumpy & spoilt by too many unnecessary slashes lumps & bumps. For the ladies nice & easy to drive & park though.

Like I put on another forum - I’m not normally one to make comparisons to other manufacturers/ models on new cars, as a lot of the ones people shout out are tenuous at best….but I can’t help but see an MX-5, butchered to look like the 2015 Mustang in that. The details are nice, such as the bonnet referencing the original, and I particularly like the tail lamps and rear end in isolation. But together, not for me I'm afraid.

It looks like Fiat spotted this MX5 MK2 kit and thought that would do nicely.

The whole design does not fit the central proportions of the soft top and cockpit size. It's a real shame as it has potential but it's ruined by the execution.

I initially wasn't bowled over by the design of the MK4 MX5 but having sat in a few and spent some time with them it's just such a complete package.

THis would have been better if they'd 500'd it like the rest of their range.

Reminds me of a mix of the Mk2 MX5 and the Viper.

I prefer the looks of the MX5, I wonder if there is a power agreement where they are not allowed to offer more than the Mazda.

Like the Alfa mock up shown above was ever going to happen, I mean really, it would have ended up a weird fat pastiche like the rest of the range, they don't make a good looking car, you have to take this into account when you criticise Fiats effort, and it has to be based on an MX5 to control costs, id rather have one more roadster than one less.

is it just me or does it look a bit like a miniature Dodge Viper? Not a bad thing though
With you on this in that I think it looks like a mini American sports car - could be the Chrysler Group connection?

Not a fan of the looks myself..
