Agreed...BUT...It could have been SO MUCH better...meh!
It really annoys me when they make a beauty like that Alfa spider and then they say: "you know lads...let's make this one instead..." biggrin

I thought the partnership was with Alfa not Fiat?

I'm not sold on the MX-5 looks, but damn it suddenly looks fantastic when comparing to this. Why would anyone buy this (unless it's significantly cheaper) than the MX-5?

Seems to be a lost opportunity there, or maybe Alfa just couldn't make it look 'sexy' enough....hence we ended up with the Fiat.

Yeah yeah, looks x, y z. It's not a picture, it's for driving ( or it should be).

Will it be faster around a track than the MX5? What is the tuning potential of that engine given it already has a turbo? Will there be a 124 racer? Will people of a female persuasion prefer the style of the 124 over the MX5 and therefore buy lots like they have the 500?

True. And it seems the Al Jolson headlights are going to be quite common on new designs too.

Really not a fan of the mx5, but agree with the others, it tramples all over this abortion. They're gonna have to do something pretty drastic with the pricing to make this attractive to buyers.

Hopefully by the time it gets to journalists for reviews the human race will have come up with a word to describe that level of disappointment.
It's like seeing a hot woman's face on POF, then the anticipation builds, but when you meet up she's fat and her fanny smells.

I think I prefer the back of the 124 though, it actually looks more MX5-like.

But yeah the Mazda wins the looks game.

WTF are you guys on?

That is gorgeous!

The latest MX-5 is trying too hard, particularly with those front lights and that wide fish-mouth grille....

When Peugeot did the same thing years ago I believe the word most used was 'gopping'.

No to the Mazda (shudder)...

Looking at the 124 again...its front has something of the old 124 spider...It's confusing...a light colour suits the car best I think...

This thing would look good with a wide body kit - looks way to square on the sides.. The squareness is ruining the lines of this car.

Having said that, I do think Abarth made a great job of the 500 (although I am biased) so maybe there is hope yet!
Clearly a subscriber to the mantra that although you can't polish a turd, you can roll it in glitter thumbup
Sorry to point out the bleedin' obvious, but the sales of the 500 would seem to disagree with you.
With the 500 they knew their market, and hit their target full on. God only knows what's gone on with this one though...

It does look much better in white. Black hides a lot of the detail and makes it look badly proportioned.

I really think it's the wheels which make it look so awful! With new wheels it would look miles better:
