I've seen a hilux i'd like, I just want a guide on what I should be paying?

Reg 30/11/12
Invincible spec
auto
nav
leather
parking sensors
104k, full history, amazing condition
Truckman top
tow pack
new tyres

I'm struggling to put a price on it...

Also, from what I've read 100k is nothing on one of these, especially with motorway use. What should I look for?

Prices are strong thanks to the Top Gear effect. I really don't think they're much better than an equivalent Mitsubishi L200. My mate paid something in the region of 6k for an equivalent motor which I thought was mental, but he wanted a Hilux because they're 'indestructible.'

He paid 6k for a 3 year old hilux!? Prices have always been strong, not as strong as a defender though.... Even though I don't think a defender is nearly as good.

I've looked at them all and the L200 just isn't as nicely built(the new 2015 one is nice though). Its also a little more brash looking which I don't want.

I'm on my 4th Hilux....got first in 2006 and currently got a 2011 model....I have put between 90-150k on each one.

I've driven all of them like I stole them, as have other members of my staff....the only thing that has gone wrong was a worn wheel bearing on the 2006 one.

All of them were serviced as per Toyotas service regime, every 10k.

Great machines.

The '07 example I use at work has some of the worst wiper blades I've experienced. Maybe I should just replace them myself when nobody is looking.

IIRC there is a significant fuel injector service that is quite critical and can cause major problems if it isn't done, but with full history that shouldn't be an issue.

I've heard about the injector thing, I think it doesn't affect the 2011+ trucks? What does seem strange is that none seem to have heated seats!?

Couple of minor things not really related to reliability.

Headlights are piss poor even worse when slightly mucky!

As said wiper blades are crap and seem to only last a few months.

Brakes can feel a little "spongy" all of mine have felt same.

Interior plastics wear loads very quickly...not an issue for me as mine are work horses anyway.

Apart from that not a great deal!!!

Cheers. As a side note even on forums I can't find any major known problems!

The one I was after has sold. This is a little more than I wanted but ticks lots of boxes

Strange, my work one has about the best headlights I've ever used. Wonder if they have different lights in different markets.

I had HID globes in mine (MY10), helped a lot.

I went for the petrol engine, as I'm not a fan of diesel. The auto box was pretty bullet proof.

Interior was nice leather and scratchy plastic.

Audio needed an upgrade.

Wanted something like this (@0:55sec) too, but never got round to it.

As the cover didn't go high enough at the front and when combined with the sports bar, made loading some stuff quite awkward.

Brakes were a little soft, but braided lines combined with better disks and pads sorted that out.

I've had my company Hilux 2012 invisible since new. It's got 86k klms on now, I regularly go off road on my way to work as it cuts around 20 mins off the traffic jam journey. Cars cannot take this route and I pretty much floor it all the way.
I do look after it though, it doesn't miss a service.

It's had a fault with a headlight plug, an easy fix at the dealership.
Mine has the flat back cover with fake roll bar, this leaks and the lock is cheap and crap. Sometimes takes around 5 mins to unlock it. The steering wheel is the only thing showing signs of wear, the rest is still like new. The boot is not that practical.

Other than this I can't think of any more problems. The ride in the back is really bad. Front very comfortable.
I can drift it nicely around hairpins, the performance from the 3.0 is very decent. Aircon works really well, manual box is very direct for a proper 4x4. Blue tooth works nicely.

The best feature is the reverse cam. Parking is no problem at all, you can easily park within an inch to the object you're rearing up to. You need this, although not that wide they are very long.
