I think we may have won the "quickest to break down" prize.
LR Evoque was delivered yesterday, before it was even off the transporter the driver told us it had a flat tyre so couldnt be driven.
I really don't think a flat tyre counts!LR Evoque was delivered yesterday, before it was even off the transporter the driver told us it had a flat tyre so couldnt be driven.
I've just clocked over 100k in my RRS. Two break downs, alternator and turbos (both common to tdv8). The dealer back up is the best I've experienced. Prices are better than my local Indy (who break promises and overcharge). Turn around times are quicker. I get a good choice of courtesy cars and delivered to my door. I gather not all dealers are like this so I shall name, Likes Landrover Brecon. I want a c63 but the LR dealer is keeping my loyal to the brand.
By contrast the two local BMW dealers were crap when I used them for my Z3M coupe. Mega pricey, rubbish courtesy cars and would ALWAYS try and sell you wipers and pads no matter when they were last changed. My local Indy and dealer was useless when the boot floor cracked.

Reading this thread in one go it's quite a stark contrast between those who've owned Range Rovers and those who haven't.
90% of the people replying here who have owned RRs say they've had little gone wrong with them and nothing when compared to what similar marquees suffer.
Whereas 90% of the people on here who have never owned an RR say they're the biggest unreliable pieces of st ever.
So, to answer the OP original question, it would seem from this thread that the answer is in fact 'No'.

I've had several, I own one now and I can confirm they are in fact rubbish.90% of the people replying here who have owned RRs say they've had little gone wrong with them and nothing when compared to what similar marquees suffer.

Rubbish, they are scrap, always will be, always have been, having owned a P38 for 18 mths, monthly visits to fix things after honeymoon period of first 6 mths of ownership, had more things go wrong with this low miles RR than ALL my other cars put together over 37 yrs, am repeating myself again...and again......and.....90% of the people replying here who have owned RRs say they've had little gone wrong with them and nothing when compared to what similar marquees suffer.

Did you read the same thread as the rest of us?... When a large group of people take out a fleet of brand new dealer demonstrators for a day, then most of them fail by lunchtime. That's ok is it? Simond S said:

That's pretty disappointing. If it deflates between the time leaving the dealer and reaching you then you can bet it needed inflating before it left, which means they were well aware. Mines been the best all rounder I've owned, and I'd only replace it with a newer version.
Its not been the fastest, or the most reliable (though its a long way from being 'unreliable'), or the most fun. But where other cars I've owned have often been one trick pony's, its just good at everything.
I vote for them not being rubbish. JLR seem to sell them by the bucket load for decent money too, so they cant be that bad.

Been doing some thinking and im going to try upgrade from my td6 to a early tdv8. Purely for the stronger gearbox as I tow often. Would love a 5l supercharged or even a 4.4 diesel but im only a student so smaller budget. No other car crossed my mind. It just does everything I need on a daily basis while not costing that much to run thus far.
