I imagine the type of person who can't be arsed to read ebay adverts, looking like a caveman, only able to communicate in short bursts, hitting the keyboard with a clenched hand.

'Me want car'
laugh

Sums it up perfectly.

Please don't I've got a sofa up at £75 on gumtree, the amount of texts asking me dumb st, offers, can I deliver (ad states collection only), can I reduce the price as they have to hire a van, etc etc etc. one fat couaaaaaaaacil slag turned up, lifted and looked under all the cushions (??) then stated it wasn't big enough (despite measurements and photo's being online). Is it these peoples mission in life just to waste peoples time? It's a £75 sodding sofa ffs. Bring back work houses.

Charities want fire labels (is only 5 years old but none on it) and robbing council want £40 to collect and I can't go to the tip because all I have is a van and council logic states that no-one ever uses a van unless they're a business and I'm automatically a criminal trying to commit fraud if I drive it to a tip.

And they wonder why people fly tip. serious question, how much unleaded will a 236cm corner sofa need?
Put it at the edge of your drive and it will disappear. I arranged for the council to take my mums old sofa. Paid over the phone etc and went round with a mate the day before collection to leave it on the drive. That evening 2 guys lifted it into a pick up and legged it with it. Slightly annoyed as I'd spent £30 with the council If I'd have known I'd just have left it there.

Put it on Gumtree.
And be prepared for a call from an Indian chap called "Brian" who will want to tell you all about the compensation he has for you due to your accident!

You just need to give him your bank details...

I say that as I have a Seat Ibiza which I'm trying to sell and so far 4 people have completely wasted my time by arranging viewings and not turning up. It's sold twice on ebay for £190 & £185 yet neither bidders turned up, a second chance offer was taken up by someone who then wanted a further 2 weeks to pay!

In summary selling cars is rubbish.

Sold a Golf R last year , and virtually every phone call was from Asian lads asking the same questions , has it got sat nav ? Followed by has it got leather ? , then followed by a low ball, offer of about £3k to £4 k less than the advertised price.

One lad rang me at 8 pm , I'm on my way now to buy it , really ? , hard job finding an address that you haven't asked for .

Sold to a dealer down in Hampshire , who came up next day and transferred the funds then drove away , bearing I live near Sunderland it was a very impressive bit of business , no fannying about , just job done.

Leasing seems to have advantages that some don't think about.

Selling the BMW at the moment. I get about 8 messages a day saying what is the lowest you'll accept? I just reply what is the most you'll pay?
Complete idiots.
If it's a classified ad, I normally reply with 'the price'.

Don't normally hear from them again after that.

It would be good if PH could set up a format where members could advertise cars for sale. We could then buy/sell safe in the knowledge that all cars are as described, fairly priced, and avoid all the scammers, liars, rouge traders and general riff raff who frequent all these other sites.

I've got an E39 530i I need to sell shortly, and I'm dreading it. Lovely car, but a bit thirsty for a daily (at least for most folk), and it needs a few things doing - usual stuff like pixels. I know, beyond a shadow of doubt, that I'm going to get every muppet in Christendom asking daft questions.

I'll stick with Autotrader - always served me well in the past - but it'll be a PITA, I just know it.
