I've often thought that Citroen should go back to their old badge placement. Sure, when they went all bland in the Saxo/ZX days it was in-line with their zero-design thinking, but now that they're being openly wacky again, surely it's time for the return of the offset badge?

I've noticed that fuel fillers tend to be on one side and not the other as well wink.

The old Mini Cooper S and XJ's had twin filler caps either side.

Yeah, but they didn't have two steering wheels wink.

Sounds like I'm dissing this thread, but I'm enjoying learning about strange suspension setups, etc. smile Keep 'em coming.

It wasn't uncommon for pre-war sports cars/tourers to have an outside handbrake which often meant there was no room for a driver's door to open so he (she?) had to enter/exit via a notch in the side. Or slide across to the passenger door.

Only a problem for the better-off though!

One thing I noticed on my car, in the uk Twingo 2's look like this. (This is my car).

While in Europe, they look like this.

They swap the reverse light and the wiper around.

Wing mirrors. Ores square and the others rectangular
Oh yeah! How weird.
Very common on German cars, my Passat is the same. They rarely (if ever?) bother making the small nearside mirrors on RHD cars, so UK market gets two the same size.

Volvo 243 http://jalopnik.com/5148730/ultra-rare-or-ultra-cu...

Built either because of a factory cock up putting 244 saloon right sides on 242 coupes that they finished and sold, or a special order for the police (1 way in and out for the scrotes in the back seat). 30 were made and sold in Estonia.

Thanks for posting that, I really enjoy reading about stuff like this! And the car looks really cool!

This topic reminds me of those older European cars that have the exhaust that is offset not in the middle not to the right or left. It always bothered me and always had me wondering why. Unfortunately I cannot find a picture, I don't recall if its Mercedes or BMW, or it could be Saab.

And that 243 would be the ideal car for pranks/pulling a bank job with conflicting witness statements.

Mirrors.

And the higher spec Capris. Driver's side remotely adjustable, passenger side dumb. Wrong way round, really. You'd have thought the one you can't reach should have the remote adjustment.

Opel Commodore B (Rekord D)

Can't go any further left because the spare wheel wheel is there - can't go any futher right towards the centre because the fuel tank is in the way
