I can't see why you would go for a Sale or return agreement anyway. Surely it just makes sense for whoever offers to sell your car to just pay you the money upfront and sell it in their own time, the only benefit is that it's zero cost profit for the seller.
It doesn't always work like that. I sold a Bianca Perlata Evo 2 Integrale on SOR with Keith at Auto Integrale in Reading. He got me £5-10k more than I felt I would have got for it privately. He carried out a full appraisal for the collector in Singapore who was purchasing it and also he has many contacts and people on his books looking for such vehicles that I would never reach. He also offered some form of comfort and comeback to the buyer.
That said he has an impeccable reputation and I trusted him. I did my due diligence and wouldn't have handed the car to any old car trader.
A specialist in their field who has built up a solid reputation and a car trader who no one speaks kindly of, are two very seperate things!

It's all down to cashflow.

It costs a lot of money for a dealer to fill a garage with their own stock. Better to have a full showroom and forecourt with someone elses cars in the showroom and make a decent commission on them without having to buy them first.

Oh and he has a nice looking Aston V8 Vantage convertible in the window at the moment.

I guess it's fair with specialist cars, but like with that Mazda on the show, the team were offered 2850 for it, whereas even private sale, you probably could have gotten 3500 for it.

Still advertising cars on PH I see, thought he had been banned, unless the Company has changed hands and is now reputable.

DO NOT trade with this guy. He is an out and out dodgy dealer a la Arfur Daley who will rip you off.
My car was supposedly in his showroom on display when one day I received a speeding ticket from Avon police, a long way from Cardiff!! Further investigation revealed he had sold the car several months earlier and never informed me of it.
I was one of the lucky ones who got some money for my car though I could never get a sales invoice out of him & never found out what price it was actually sold for.
A distinctly dodgy individual who is breaking trading laws on many fronts and should not be allowed to practice business with the general public.

I should have taking things further with trading standards, but later found he had been fingered by BBC Watchdog. My expectation is that he will soon be closed down for rogue trading.

I wouldn't count on it. These rouge traders seem to have a way of keep popping up over and over.

There is a garage local to me that has been fined by trading standards at least twice for selling dangerous cars and other dodgy tactics. Two of the owners have even done time inside for selling unroadworthy cars. Yet the business goes on operating, changing name every 5 minutes but with the same dodgy fkers actually running the place. Anyone local knows to avoid like the plague, but they offer most of their crap online.

This is why they keep getting away with it.
Once people finally have their money they don't do anything about it so there are zero consequences to behaving like this.

I can't recall a time where Piston Heads has ever attempted to protect their customers.

Funny, I was thinking of taking my JCW down there to sell next month, not a chance in hell now! I wonder if he will call me when I advertise it?

As PH's customers are the dodgy lot they flog advertising space to, I think you are quite wrong there.

We are the product PH sells, not their customers.

"Williams Motors" was barred from using PistonHeads in November 2015 and have not been reinstated.
