Friend had one of these - completely indestructible his two kids learnt in it - over about 7 years all it had apart from service items was a brake light bulb.

He had the optional aircon on the car - boy could you feel the impact of turning it on - drop one extra gear going up hill...

I had an H reg for a while, purchased from my grandad . It was a special edition, but he'd made them put steel wheels on as the alloys were too hard to clean!

£350 seems really expensive - we just threw away a 52 reg one!
Yep - the OP was 'done', this is obvious - but he's happy so who cares.

I'm currently 'driving like I stole it' a 2001 1.25L Ford Fiesta Ghia (lots of goodies usually found on bigger cars such as heated front screen, A/C, leccy windows, R/C locking, alloys etc) all for £100 with 13 months MOT. I absolutely love driving it - great little car.

I think saying I was "done" is a bit harsh TBH. I could have punted on innumerable rusty Fiesta's and KA's with short MOT's and "full service history" on Fleabay and Autotrader.(been there, done that) I could've possibly even got a nicer motor for more dosh if I'd been prepared to travel.

But time was short and needs must, and as you say, I'm happy with my little cockroach.biggrin
"Ours" (belonged to a family member completely dis-interested in cars) was really ropey, but was still in daily use for a chunky commute and had 4 months MOT. But its condition was horrendous and no way would I have sold it to anyone. Got £35 as scrap (they came and collected it).

My sister has an X reg K11 1.0 with the hateful cvt gearbox. 0-60 in something like 19 seconds! It's only done 31,000 miles from new though. I drive it every now and then and it makes my Galant seem faster everytime I get back into my own car.

I've often fallen in love with the dodgy courtesy cars I've been given over the years while my show pony has been in for service.
They sort of make you wonder whether all the effort and expense lavished on the latter has any point.
But like a lot of affairs, I'd imagine living with them day in, day out, would soon see the end of it. hehe

Strange, I had a Nissan Terrano for 10 years and then the brake light bulb blew. Must be a weak point on Nissans. When oh when are they going to get the reliability right? hehe

An old Micra with the handling and cornering sorted would be a very fun thing to drive. A set of bike carbs fitted would also add to the experience.

i find it great fun commuting in my 64bhp fiesta, at first i hated it as i was used to 230bhp but now i enjoy making the most of the 'performance' from the car thinking about every gear change etc to keep up with the flow of traffic. The fact it weighs a tonne makes b roads even betterdriving

I should replace it for something better, but it refuses to brake or drop below 50mpg

I also had the 1.7 Puma. The handling was great. I remember following my mate in his 328Ci that I would subsequently own and he would do me on the straights but I'd be right up his chuff again in the corners. Great little karts, glad I owned one.
When I first got my Puma an e46 coupe overtook me and I thought I'd see if I could keep up, the Puma responded by breaking down!

Still after that was an amazing car. I've always liked the idea of driving a K11 around as a snotter, think they look kind of cool in a crap way, if you know what I mean. We need pictures!

Mind I never felt the engine was quite as brilliant as some make out, I preferred the 1.8 in the Corsa SRI, it just had a nicer sound and felt a bit punchier. Though the throttle response was better on the Puma.
The Puma had one of the best gearshifts I've ever experienced in any of the cars I've driven too.

I know it's perhaps not the most PH of cars, but it's actually quite liberating having a car you don't give a st about and it's quite a laugh extracting all 54 bhp from that 998cc engine.

I'm genuinely surprised at how capable it is. thumbup

A proper PH motor IMO. Tough as old boots, old school and a design classic.

I've had a strange urge to buy a K11, for around a year now.

I may have to scratch that itch.

I have a thing for basic cars, with a wheel in each corner.

Probably goes back to my first car, which was a Mini.

Err, you sure? K11 Micra was launched on a K reg. H reg would have been a facelift K10. [/geek]

Hire yourself a heat gun and point it at the bumpers to get them black again. Spray the steel wheels (but not the plates on them) black for a rather nice look.
