An ST1 can be had for around £14200 via a broker.

Is there really £7400 worth of extra here?
It's an interesting point that was bound to come up.

As a quick guess, the OZ SuperT alloys are close to £1k on there own, a Quaiffe limited slip diff is £750, Bilstein shocks (b12 kit) £650, Alcon brakes £1800 which is around £4k in parts before fitting, plus the additional bodywork/paint etc so I wouldn't be too surprised if there was quite a slim margin on the car.

Anyhow, thankfully it's only the accountants that need to worry about that in great detail.

I do wish it wasn't called a M-Sport due to the BMW M brand, but , the Fiesta ST gets a BIG thumbs up from me!!

It's essentially a Mountune car from what I can see. Mountune and Greenlight insurance have a deal - so doubt it would cost much more than a standard ST, if at all.
Mountune is a recognised model. Just look on the comparison websites.

MP cars have an ABI number. MR cars do not.

You're preaching to the converted - I have a Focus ST MR290.

Agreed on the M-Sport bit. I have an ST2 and not one part of me wished I had this special edition. Fabric seats and the black spoiler are a real let down.

Mines a daily but if I wanted something a bit track focused I'd do the following...

£1200 for Perons 240BHP kit (Same power to weight as the M135i)
£120 Mountune Springs (Been overly impressed with mine)
£750 Limited Slip Diff
£150 Upgraded pads and fluids
£600 Pro Race 1.2s with track tyres

All the above with a new ST1 would be just over £17k. And probably show the M-Sport up with the extra power.

I'm doing my best to keep my wallet shut but I suspect I'll have all the above in the new year :P

I like that this has the differential but in my mind that should be an optional extra through ford as it is anyway, in a similar way I believe there is an operational performance pack on the new corsa vxr.

Looking at upgrading my 1.0 140bhp red edition and certainly won't be going for this, looks like a boy racer special.

Were you a fan of the 140?

I am very much a fan of it, may end up keeping it rather than 'upgrading' as it really suits my needs and I'm put off my the apparent firm ride in the st.
Puts a smile in my face everyting I drive it with its little 1.0 so decisions decisions really.

It drives pretty well to be honest, but I have no reference to compare it to having never driven another ST. Looks very good in the flesh.

Worth noting the price mentioned in the article I believe is for the base M-Sport Edition, no Alcon brakes, handling kit etc. Just the interior changes, graphics, wheels, Mountune kit and intake/exhaust.

Not amazing value for money then, surely just go to Mountune direct and make the important changes.

Talking the 1.0T, I expect that there will be an increasing number of owners that will be tempted by the likes of this:

No short term plans for my Red Edition (it's great in standard form), but can see myself being tempted when the warranty runs out (the article is wrong about the warranty being retained).

I'm tempted by the PumaSpeed 155bhp kit. Looks like something that could easily be whipped off come service time.

Apart from the paint/wrap, that is a great looking car. I think they all should have come out the factory like that

It feels good as an overall package however, and does look nice.

I also wouldn't touch Pumaspeed if they paid me to. Awful owner, bad customer service and poorly researched parts that don't always even fit or work properly.

Superchips and Revo are other options.. and could be combined with Mountune hardware.

All that jazz

Who wants to bet how "slight" the drop in predicted mpg will actually be on this modified 163hp petrol car?

"There’ll inevitably be a slight drop on the 138bhp car’s 62.8mpg"

I bet low 40s or perhaps even high 30s will be much more realistic. And before the usual suspects jump in, no I don't give a fk about mpg on a sports car but I just couldn't let that slip by without commenting!

Mercedes have also released a special addition A45. The colour scheme of this reminded me of it.

Maybe they should have called it the Clubsport instead though wink
Or since it's a homage to the rally success Ford have had they could have stuck a Rallye Sport badge which could be abbreviated to RS?

That's minging.

Just about every surface has some sort of logo/M-Sport graphic on it. The only thing missing is a shopping list on the door...oh wait, they put some go-faster stripes there instead.
There is a badge on the grill and some questionable stickers on the bonnet and doors, hardly every panel having some sort of logo on it is it? Remove the stickers and it has no more extra badges than a standard ST
