I find the Sony head unit to be very good, I have mine with the bass to full and it does pack a really decent punch without any rattles much better than the one on my golf.

The sync is the voice activated crap, although I've never used a good one of those I suppose
The sony head unit decent with its black gloss finish. I think its a shame they never updated the version of sync, the interface is abit dated even for a 2013 launch car IMHO. Seems they were already developing sync2 to care...Nevertheless I find it pretty straight forward to use. Voice activation was tiresome at first but after a while becomes a doddle, and that's coming from someone who speaks rather quickly anyway laugh
I tend to use it when I want to make a call or switch to USB to play music off my phone.

Sync isn't bad, it's never going to be the dogs bks but it works most of the time. I do have an issue with mine that means I end up pulling a fuse out every month or so. But it sounds good, sat nav isn't bad, can stream audio via bluetooth too.

Well I only had one for a week, mostly German B roads and few hundred km of highway. It's not brutally hard, just pretty firm -- e.g. never managed to make it actually bottom out. But it seems to be very strongly damped so things get bouncy at higher speed. Which I found deal breaking level annoying on the Autobahn (>100 mph). An old fart's view, YMMV and all that.
That kind of rules it out of contention for me. I'm looking to replace my FN2 Type R at some point soon which also has a completely backbreaking ride.

Shame.

Sadly never been in a fast FN2 so no way to compare. I think you should treat yourself to a test drive anyway, very subjective matter this.

Been wondering what it would feel like on light 16" rims and a bit more side wall. There's plenty of choice in 205/45/16 which should fit nicely. The Sync stuff does not bother me much. Just the sound quality didn't totally blow me away. Probably same thing for most of the class though...

I owned an fnpoo with the 19" rage alloys and my St is like a limousine compared to that.

Take a test drive they are nowhere near as bad as some people say.

Great to hear the car gets such a positive response. I first I thought too that the MPG wasnt amazing, but since ive started using it for work it really isnt all that bad.

The Sync leaves little to be desired sometimes and can have a mind of its own but it works pretty well when it does. I quite like the fact that it has buttons though. The American spec Sync does look nicer on the dash though...

I too wish the exhaust note was a little more exciting, but at least it doesnt drone i guess.

Dont get me wrong I wish I could have an old MX-5 as a second car to enjoy on track days and weekends, or a an old 1.7 Puma but day to day I found the NC MX-5 too finicky to road conditions and could only really enjoy it on certain roads.

Great little write up about a very good car indeed smile

I think it will be my next car when my Zetec S Red Edition hits 3 years old smile

I love my little red though and I imagine the handling is similar...

The little 1.0 turbo engine still makes me smile and it sounds great but I do lust after the properly quick ST though...
