The worst hot hatch ever
Discussion
In response to the best hot hatch ever thread.
This is bottom of the hot hatch pile for me:
Terrible weezy 8v engine, poor to drive and questionable reliability and build quality.

My hot hatch, the Corsa 1.8 SRi, (2003), was always derided by all and sundry, including JC and the motoring press. But to me it was a stellar machine, with bowel loosening acceleration and ICE including radio, cassette and five disc changer CD. I miss Kevin, for that was his name, terribly.

MG Maestro ?
Was actually a fine handling hatch with a decent amount of power, well the 2 litre ones were, just tended to rust and wasnt the prettiest.Suspect on a lot of posts on here the driving impressions will be based on a 20 year old version running on knackered shocks with a different flavour remould on each corner.....
.....and it being compared to a 15 plate Golf R

I suspect more posts will be based on not having driven the cars in question at all. s m said:
Yes, these handled pretty well

I agree, I always take these kinds of questions to mean "fresh out the box, or close enough".Suspect on a lot of posts on here the driving impressions will be based on a 20 year old version running on knackered shocks with a different flavour remould on each corner.....
On that basis, an 8v Mk4 Golf is certainly a strong candidate for my vote.
Lucky to have owned a very long list of hot hatches starting with XR2 / XR3i / Alfa Sud Ti / Delta GT i/ Astra GTE in the early 90's with all sorts of hot hatches in between - more recently things like Golf Gti DSG, Cooper S works, Civic Type R's.
Worst one was a Corolla T Sport - the worst gearing I have ever had in a hot hatch, soft wallowing suspension zero feel through the steering wheel and the seats were too high and lacked any side support - Toyota made some great cars but that was not one of them!
