Future Tech in Cars

There would just be many cars randomly flashing their lights after a few swipes to clean off after random puddles, other cars washing screens ahead etc. They aren't just used in rain and darkness.

When it rains in the day and you can't see other cars without lights on, you need to hand in your keys and take public transport.
No there wouldn't be, anything above intermittent, I.e the first push up ofSj

The stalk, not the pull foward for washer jets or a tap down for a single wipe,
So you can see a silver car on a motorway in heavy rain with heavy spray just fine without lights can you?

You illustrate my point perfectly Line in will always work, on every device, in every car, because it's SIMPLE.
Too much tech for tech's sake, rather than practical solutions.
BMWs allow bluetooth paring from your phone to the car. I can play my entire catalogue, or anything from Spotify through the car's stereo - and control it all through iDrive. It's as simple, if not more simple than a line-in cable.Too much tech for tech's sake, rather than practical solutions.
Somewhere on the dash that any aftermarket satnav fits in so you are A) not tied to a really expensive factory satnav and B) don't have to have the thing stuck to a window, they could put the 12v socket somewhere so you do have 2 meters of cable flapping around the car.
I'd also like Letch Assist, so I can perv on the move and the little velvet glove that comes out of the lower dash of Range Rovers to stroke the driver off making him/her forget about all the breakdowns.

J.D. Power's annual Vehicle Dependability Study, released Wednesday, found that 55 percent of drivers surveyed about their 3-year-old vehicles said the Bluetooth system does not recognize their phone. Separately, 31 percent said their phone does not automatically connect to their car when they get inside. Bluetooth did not respond to a request for comment.
"Bluetooth and voice recognition systems not working are the top two problems vehicle owners are reporting after three years of having their cars," said Renee Stephens, vice president of U.S. Automotive for J.D. Power. "They are tired of this technology not working in their cars."

I am not against technology, I want practical solutions which work, not technological masterbation that only works for 45% of people who try to use it and which puts off an unkown number of others from even trying.
It isn't 'tech' as such but this will certainly be an interesting change if it gets adopted by the mainstream;

I don't know anyone in the UK who can't connect to the bluetooth in their car.
As for simple.... If your car and phone have bluetooth (for phone), you'll have paired them anyway. You just select from the iDrive screen, same as if it was the car's HD or a CD.
Simpler than a meerkats former catch-phrase.

Just because cheap yank car bluetooth systems are, well, cheap, doesn't mean the system doesn't work.

Hilarious. 55% of them don't work, but your's does so that's ok. And everyone who doesn't understand it doesn't deserve to use it anyway, presumably.I don't know anyone in the UK who can't connect to the bluetooth in their car.

This is the problem with much tech these days. It doesn't work for people, it expects people to work for it.
Do you use linux by any chance?

I had a hire car a while back with a heated screen and thought it was incredilbly distracting.
Hundereds of lines across the screen is not good.
I thought the same when I first test drove my car. Within a day I stopped noticing. Now I just find that in the winter it's up there with heated seats (for leather anyway) on must have items. Hundereds of lines across the screen is not good.

What about a cold water sprinkler system that is activated when it detects bad language above 60 decibels
A lot of the bad language in my car is down to the technology not working properly. Apparently telling Mercedes Linguatronic to F off is an instruction to switch to Music hard drive.CrutyRammers said:

As I said, I don't know anyone that can't connect But don't let it get in the way of a rant.
Of the 55% of people that can't understand it....could they understand a 'line-in/line'out? Do any of them have music on a phone anyway??
Just because you can't figure it out, doesn't make it difficult for those with more than single-digit brain cell count
I recently heard of a company currently looking for VC funding to develop a control system for a flying car. I thought it was a wind up but apparently not. If you think of the progress of drones etc and all the anti-collision tech around then why not have the facility to fly past the traffic queue on the M1 contraflow!
