The reason they're cheap as chips is because they rust like fk. They've not been dubbed Dacia Rusters for nothing! Do a search online for Dacia Duster rust and you will discover hundreds of pages on the issue.
Or if you'd read the thread....

Or looked at the Dacia website http://www.dacia.co.uk/about-dacia/dacia-news/daci...

Early Dusters were built on India and yes they have trust issues, they should have all been recalled and fixed. Once corrected they no longer have the issue.

ve sold plenty of them, new, pre-reg and used. they hold their value well. Do not buy a white one though, they do rust, something to do with the paint not being of a good quality. The cheap access is pretty poor though as it only comes a 1.6 petrol, but an Ambiance Diesel is still a good cheap utilitarian but still decent car to have.
They don't hold their value well at all ! Horrendous depreciation.
They rust.
No radio.
Is this 1976?

And the DUSTER badge on the back is bigger than the sign on my local supermarket

Don't hold their value? Against what? A 2.5 year old 13k duster with 30k on it trades now at £7250 clean. That's actually very decent.

See above about the rust.

Radios in everything apart from the base spec, mid spec upwards gets Bluetooth standard too.

It's 2015. HTH!

In a shopping car then no radio is probably an advantage. Instead, spend a few hundred at the local car audio shop and get a decent head unit and speakers.

March 2013 Duster access costing £8995 new:

Now trading at £5050.

March 2013 Focus ST-3 Estate costing £26k new.

Now trading at £13250.

One has lost 45%, the other has lost.... 49%

Is that the best you can do?!

Please point to my post where I've said Focus STs hold their value well. The value of the Ruster is irrelevant at 3 years old anyway as can't drive a pile of tin dust. rofl

Add me to the list of people that really like these things, to the point that I seriously considered one even though I have no need for the space etc. I appreciate the entire concept of them an I do feel a tiny bit of envy when I see one. I like them in the same way I like an old Land Rover or a Suzuki Jimny and I'm sure they will have a similar list of aftermarket accessories for them.

I just gave you hard facts that their depreciation is on par with most other cars.

So yeah, it's the best I can do, because it's the truth. smile

Hmm a 4x4 Duster Commercial has some appeal. I didn't know there was a commercial version

No you didn't. You stated "they hold their value well" which is an outright lie.

I think you need to go to specsavers because I haven't written that anywhere....

They do seem to hold their value well. Where's your evidence to the contrary?

Basics such as a radio and Bluetooth connectivity aren't available on the entry-level Access model.

The top-spec Laureate has electric windows, mirrors and air-con, but it’ll cost you more than a basic Nissan Juke...
Genuine question, to anyone with experience of either. Would a basic Juke be a better option?
It seems to me that the Duster has a lot more space for a start?

I've been toying with the idea of getting the top spec Laureate Prime. What are the (new, not used) alternatives for £15995?

I would hurry up as Primes are no longer available to order so you need to get in quick before any available stock has gone; oh and before they rust away wink

I like them too. As someone said earlier, just like a Landy or a Jimny. Add the SJ410 to that list, ideally one covered in mud with a chainsaw in the back.

Anything holding 49% after 3 years/30k is a decent proposition for depreciation and hardly dropping like a stone. See if you can get much better than that out of a new Golf. In addition, at £5k/3yrs old, it's likely to start slowing down because people will start saying "hang on, it's only 5 years old/50k (whatever) and under £4k, all the Golfs/Astras/Toyotas at that money are 2 years older and nearly 100k miles" and so the thing starts to have a relatively high intrinsic value.

Spied one of these a few months ago and always meant to research whether it was a factory setup or mods by an owner. Turns out some did come from the factory like this! The Black Edition. Weighing in at £17k! Almost £6k extra for some black vinyl wrap. They do look quite cool though as far as Dusters go.

Percentage wise that's not horrendous depreciation on a mass market, new car, and the monetary loss will be less than the competitors as you paid less for the thing in the first place.

I've not driven any of the Dacia range but for a new car that does a job, surely you could do an awful lot worse...?

Also got pick up versions down there!

The pick up looks quite cool/cute in a mini-VW Amarok kind of way.
