Couldn't agree more with the article; bought mine on a complete whim - was available at the right time, and not a car I'd ever considered - but so glad I did.

Was to be a car I kept a couple of years, but now I can't see myself ever parting with it, despite the appreciation. What else could you buy that is as crazy a concept?!

Not the fastest, not the best handling, does not excel in any particular area - but just has the "it" factor.

The Clio V6 must be one of the coolest cars to ever come from a mainstream manufacturer. I really do love mine to pieces! It's a shame prices are rising so fast and so high (though it's totally understandable based on build numbers and relative uniqueness) as I suspect most people will never get the chance to try one.
When I was a youth in the fens there was a guy who had a brand new E46 M3, the best car in town. Drove it hard to, he was a hero among those of us who'd just passed our tests. His wife had a brand new Clio V6 S2 in the blue pictured. Story goes she liked fast cars but wasnt to hot a driver and she pestered him to be able to drive the M3 so much he said he's buy her a sporty car. She chose a Clio V6.

I moved away not long after so not sure if he`s a widow now.

I sold mine in July last year. I really wish I didn't have to. Unfortunately, since then prices have increased too much to even consider having another, which is a shame as I would absolutely love another!

Searched classifieds there expecting to see clean cars at around £15k...
How wrong was I?
Market gone mad here!
Rare - Yes, Fun - Yes
Never worth £20k+ though

You can pay 20 grand for a Kia Cee'd, which will depreciate, or you can have some fun and drive something interesting for a couple of years, then sell it at a profit, or at least not lose anything if you buy it right and dont ruin it.

I just managed a similar thing with a 350Z, ran it for 25 months and sold it for the same money I bought it for, so if it can be done on something much less rare these are a good bet and are young enough not to be utter dungheaps.

Renault could launch this one as the successor of the fantastic Clio V6.

I had a silver phase 1 car back in 2007 (i believe) Only kept it about 18 months as i wanted a red tommi mak evo as the clio wasnt quick enough. Oh how i wish i still owned it now as ill never buy another at the current prices...

There is a girl/woman ( whos not to shabby i might add) local to me who i see daily using her black phase 2, and shes owned it since at least 2007 when i had mine.

You only have to look at the prices of the Renault 5 Turbo 2 to see that the Clio is only going one way...............

One of these in liquid yellow would be in my top 10 lottery garage.
My first car was a 1.2 PH2 in what can only be described as piss yellow. So have a soft spot for silly coloured clios!

Good write up and you're certainly not the first V6 owner to sell up, regret it, and get back into one. I speak from personal experience...

I can think of one serial vee owner who at last time of counting was on his 4th hehe

Great write up Chris.

Still miss mine, had to sell unfortunately but would love another. They're strong money now though and I'm not sure they're worth £20k+ in my eyes

Nice article and glad you found another.

I was lucky enough to own an Iliad PH2 back in 2010, sold it for a profit (£14k) if I'd know what was going to happen to the prices I'd have keep it for a few more years!

Hilarious cars to drive but just too floaty over the front end to ever give me any real confidence in the car.

yes Absolutely, I'm sure these will hold their value now as a minimum. What a bonkers car, so glad Renault gave us these, the likes of which will probably never be seen again. Wish I'd have bought one when the prices were more affordable to me.
Agree with the OP about the interior though, sat in one at a car show years ago and was amazed that it seemed to have a 'Campus' steering wheel!

Great write up OPclap, an enjoyable read

Fantastic car - not the fastest overall in the grand scheme of things but always guaranteed to turn heads wherever you go smile The fact Renault built them was fantastic as no other manufacturer dared to build something similar.

Makes me miss my old one - '04 Phase 2 #175 in Black Gold - again frown With a K-Tec silencer, PiperX induction kit and a remap it sounded lovely on overrun smile

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!
It's genuinely nice to know that the V6 is appreciated outside v6clio.net community!

I just hope that someone at Renault has the balls to give the TwinRun the green light, would sell a kidney for that little monster!

I also purchased mine on a whim, was back in 2013. A black gold phase 2 for 14k. These cars are so special and really get under your skin. Theres no car out there quite like it. Doubt I will ever sell mine.
