I have some news for the writer of that article quoted; although she may find it hard to believe there are some youngsters who actually live outside of London :O There is little or no public transport, especially in the evening and insurance, though high is a fraction of the cost in the Great Wen, especially with black boxes fitted. Even the chav culture is alive and well; enter the Black Country by any main route and you will find a large sigh banning car cuising. If only lazy journalists would get out into the real world, they would find as you have that the future is actually fairly safe in the hands of the next generation.

I'm quietly confident that there will still be petrolheads in the future - just over a week ago I was on holiday in Abu Dhabi & went from dinner to the Yas Viceroy Hotel (the one over the track) & the was a Maserati Corse race & some sort of free session. There was a British family with 3 boys aged 5-8, they were squealing with delight every time a car came round & were really disappointed each time there was a gap in traffic.

They were clearly transfixed by the cars - petrolheads in the making I believe.

On a side note there was an Aston Martin Vulcan putting in a few laps on the free session & it sounded biblical - the highlight of my holiday. I never really got all the fuss about Aston Martin but I do now. (I just need £1.8m & a track)

I still prefer to support independent, local businesses that have managed to survive the onslaught of the likes of Halfords, regardless of how much they advertise or how subtly they do it. wink

Seek out your local indy and help keep them afloat this Christmas. biggrin
