I wish manufacturers would use a logarithmic scale or something on their speedos. The Merc ones shown go up to 200mph but they'll never see that. I'd argue that most won't see much over 80mph much of the time which is only halfway round.

It would be much better to have, say 50% of the speedo showing 0-40, 25% showing 40-80, then the last 25% showing 80+. With today's speed cameras, it's hard to even see if your doing 30mph on some speedo#s I've seen. Once over 100mph, do you really need to know if you are doing 105? At 30 mph, 35 could mean a ticket.

That's smart.

I do wonder why we need an analogue speedo though. My Porsche has a tiny analogue speedo dial and a large digital display with the speed number in the middle. It's so much better to have a figure in front of you than a dial IMO.
