Bought a rot box, how much to fix?

All in-car systems sound great in the shop - it's only when they're fitted into the car that you find out just how good (or bad) they are. IMHO you'd be better off getting something that's passable and keep the rest towards looking after the car itself. After all, if it breaks down that two grand stereo isn't going to get much use (unless you like sitting in your car listening to the stereo).

This.Might apply to a silky quiet Lexus or Audi A8 with double glazing. But not a rot box.
Your mate obviously noticed that you never had a belt on. He probably tells his mates how mental he thinks you are. With a sound system like that all the local bruvs will be "innit".

No, he's actually a big Ford fan and was the one who encouraged me in the strongest terms to buy the car in the first place, he loves it. As for the local bruvs, I don't care what they think, any additions I make to the car are for my benefit

As I say, the sound system won't be bought until the car is sorted both bodily and mechanically, so no rust holes to poke the cable through I'm afraid
Just realised I didn't answer my own question, the cost to do all the welding was in the region of £300, although I can't be sure as I didn't get an itemised invoice, I actually paid £1,150 for-
New clutch and slave (Ford part)
X2 New Ball joints
New brake caliper and front pads
The welding
New coil pack, sparks, and HT leads
I thought it was reasonable value.

Seriously 2 grand on some speakers, id be spending it on getting it right.
That does include custom built A-pillar mouldings for the tweeters so that they blend into the OEM decor and look like Ford put them there, if that makes it sound any less mental Seriously 2 grand on some speakers, id be spending it on getting it right.
Believe me by the time I'm finished I will have spent more than £2K on getting it right. I've spent that much already!

A good pair will last you 15 years. You can wear them at home, work (if they allow it) and holidays. A good pair of closed earphones will give a remarkable sound for far less than any hifi- and you won't annoy the neighbours.Vaud said:
