Exactly my point...

Edit: treatment is what I should have said.

So now you need to go after market to get a sorted M car? Sad times indeed.

Compared to the chassis on my E92 M3 I thought the Z4M`s chassis was unresolved and there was a big difference and I thought the M3 was miles more planted, it rode better and was a fair bit more unforgiving, I think it was a Friday afternoon when the Z4M`s chassis was designed.

Alpina every day. Far more old money and far less chav.
Also much better motor vehicles.
Alpina don't offer a tuned M4, only the 335i.

They don't offer either Alpina uses the short block but the head is different as is the turbo injectors etc, the B3 is more planted than the M3/4 but it caters to a different market.

There are no shocks with this article better shocks & springs aligned with a proper set up (Alpina do this well) is better than the world wide standard set up.

Can't understand how 20 inch wheels could improve a car on UK roads ? Exhaust looks quality though.

I can't believe that it is almost 2016 and some people still think huge time and tiny rubber looks good.
By the end of next year allmost everyone will be going the other wY and showing sidewalls again

Has the M4 got electric or hydraulic steering?

There's a lot more wrong with it than the suspension. It looks hideous, an unresolved mess of too many conflicting surfaces, lines and slashes.

I'd also be interested to see someone come up with a ~380bhp N/A conversion for this. Get rid of the turbos, whack the compression up and get a nice, linear power delivery plus a latter-day-S54 howl.

I won't hold my breath, though. Too many people are too obsessed with stupid power at all costs.

Great review. Have the springs and/or anti roll bars changed too?

Tyres could also be instrumental in the improvements.

More damped motion in suspension. Less bouncing on the sidewall. Maybe.

Sounds like you could just stick some KW v3's and a nice exhaust rather than getting anthing AC Shnitzer branded. Then you could have the better damping of the passive set up and you don't have to run the very low ride height and have it bottoming out.

Not sure. The Z4M was a big improvement over the normal Z4 in terms of suspension calibration but still not brilliant. It's hard to know how much of that was limitations of the platform?

Not driven it, but it reads like the original shouldn't have left the factory in that state, surely? At least not if the M division want to keep what's left of their reputation

Crazy power...
I'd love one in black with the power/suspension upgrades but no ACS wheels or carbon tat!
A standard BMW performance exhaust would be nice too!

But the car w ceramics and slap on the AC suspension and wheels. Car has plenty of power and you won't have to shell out for 98Ron petrol each fill up.

These tweaks would make a killer M3 sedan.
If you spend 60k on a car but can't afford 98ron petrol then you are probably buying the wrong car.

BMW do make some well regarded cars(3 series/M5/original M3 for example) yet they failed by some margin on their sports car which if I am honest has often baffled me and I do think the base that they started with was flawed.

I haven't driven a base Z4 but the Z4M wasn't anything special in terms of how it drove yet on paper it had most of the ingredients to hit the spot, so it is pretty disappointing really.
