From all accounts the M2 might just be the ideal compromise between outright performance and usability as a daily. I think they will hold money better than an M4. They are scarcely any slower to 80-ish than an M4 and whilst I initially thought BMW may have under bhp-ed the M2, the more I think and hear the more I reckon they may have it spot on. Nice car.
I'd have to agree. But will wait to read the initial reviews and get a drive myself before giving a definitive view.

Straight line speed is very low on my list of priorities and to be fair no one has driven one yet so not sure "by all accounts" mean much. This was my target car but as I said, the price differential is very small after discounts compared to the M3 / M4 which have nice (albeit a little superfluous/ostentatious) M touches like the mirrors, CF roof, proper seats rather than M135i seats, etc etc, that the M2 has to do without.
M2 residuals could indeed be better in the short term but as a daily the M3 would make more sense, what with 4-doors. Quite irrelevant anyway as no M2 available before 2017 delivery now.

Just a thought this morning after I saw one of these in traffic. Has any company offered a twin exhaust set up for these yet to replace the 4 pipes ?? I think it would finish them off nicely.
Especially as the two inner exhausts are not connected to anythingShambler said:

the golf was stage 3 with approx 500ps and the fiat was 430ps and front wheel drive.......impressive stuff.
Good clip that. DSG & 4WD showing a clear advantage off the line. However, I reckon either the Golf is way less than 500ps, or the FIAT way more than 430ps. You can't claw back an annihilation off the line like that with less power.Any more details on how 500ps was achieved? I can't see a standard engine making that and lasting more than a few pulls, but I'm interested in the technicalities.

Which mk golf made 500bhp? The mk6r will do 500bhp on stock internals. Not sure about the mk7Any more details on how 500ps was achieved? I can't see a standard engine making that and lasting more than a few pulls, but I'm interested in the technicalities.

"Anybody else notice the difference between the estate and the hatch exhaust setup yet? The tips are all false and don't have any physical connection with the backboxes (also different) as they seem to just exit in the general tip area. I haven't been able to look at any detail to see how the valves etc are setup."

UK Hatch version definitely has all 4 pipes connected. 2 are always open and the other 2 only open when the engine is at a certain rev range and what driving mode you are in. They can also all be permanently opened via vagcom.
just spoken to vw and they confirmed that all four should be connected, mine are not, so trip to dealer.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
