RE: I like 'em dirty: PH Blog
Discussion
Here's a thread I started on a similar subject.... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=104...
Whilst I appreciate that it isn't possible to keep a car spotless for long during winter, I think there's a point in dirtiness where it suggests that the car isn't cared for. There's also the matter that after a while you start getting coated in muck every time you use the boot or rear doors....
I don't in principle mind a dirty car. Getting the road filth on your clothes and hands is a pain though, the better half also objects. And the paint seems to suffer. A weekly big bucket of soapy water and a sponge works ok, not to fussy, blast with the hose, let it dry on its own. A good clean when summer arrives.
Where I live, the roads mean the car is usually back to near max dirt levels within about 10 miles of driving, so there's little point.
The only car that gets washed is the classic car, every so often, but that's just due to the fact that it rarely gets used, and I enjoy cleaning it.
All the others only get washed when going to the dealer for routine/recall stuff.
Although I'd like to think I've now perfected the "rear view camera thumb wipe" technique anytime the boot is opened/closed.
