I think this would be too buoyant and topple over.
Or am I taking this too seriously?

High voltage by itself is not dangerous. It is the current (Amps) which will kill you.
Thats a poor understanding of electricity Current is determined by the voltage and resistance (I=V/R). You will draw a higher current as the voltage increases. Dip yourself in water and you will feel an even bigger jolt.

My old Mk2 Clio was great for wading in deep water.
The intake is right on top of the engine so you don't have to worry about low intakes.

Had it up past the headlights before and it didn't give a damn.
The car itself is terrible and even by French standards, it was badly made.

My old Mk1 freeby had it's intake in the drivers wing area, also very handy for wading in deep water.

The biggest worry is flowing water, even shallow water can sweep a car off the road.
There are a few pictures of cars that have been swept away during the recent floods.

That depends on the water, seeing as you're being so critical.....

You can pick up 25,000 volts just by walking across a wool carpet in leather shoes. High voltage is not necessarily going to kill you was my point.
