A squillionaire wants to create a car collection.
He wants just one car to represent each decade from the 1880's to the 2010's.
What would be your choice?

An r8 and a mclaren to represent the last twenty years? An mx5?

I don't see how that represents the worlds motoring history remotely unless you get your news from piston heads.

Edit: good effort on the others though!

Let's go with a p1 rather than the 12c, it's more in theme with current trends?

40's has to be the 2CV for me. It was the car that remobilised France, and just about the only one available thanks to steel rationing. It was so successful they had to ration it to people who actually needed it, so the doctor, the midwife, and the schoolteacher who lived away from his work got the car, but the factory owner was invited to walk to work and take the train to his clients.

Is the VW Beetle the same decade? That did a similar job for Germany, though I'm not convinced that it was so innovative.

1900's - RR Silver Ghost. A distant uncle had one in the 70s & 80s, restored it himself (he was a retired garage owner and vintage car restorer) and I sat in the thing once as a boy. He also had a Model T, a DeDion (I think he sold this) and a Fiat of some kind that I don't think he finished before he died. All pre-1914, I believe. I've just learned that his car is the one that Franklin Mint made a model of.

Particularly liked the fact that it was uncovered as a crop.

The crop was done on purpose - ☺☺

I'm glad you found the hooklinesinker.
An idea that I've been churning in my mind for quite a while and decided to go for it & see where it went.
If you wish, let the cat out of the bag on the topic pages.
No offence meant to anybody, it was just a forum game.
Best Regards - R
