You could dump the carbon fibre packs, the wheels, the coloured calipers, the carbon seat backs£3,420 for Vermilion Red elite paint

£150k car and parking sensors not standard :S
earlier poster asked a what point have the compromised the 911 to allow it to keep up?
quite a bit as it happens.
the 991 turbo is basically a mini panamera with the looks and weight to Match.
it is the ugliest modern 911 Porsche have made.
if practicality is the only crutch that Porsche lean on for the next turbo it will fall further behind.
Porsches Cayman complex has shown them up here against the new boys and they need a direct mid engined rival in this part of the market.
I have no idea why car makers at this level still charge for parking sensors. make it a no cost delete option.

(I may be the only person who doesn't like carbon bits).
No, you're not.The point of carbon is that it's light, so why are you adding carbon? Alright, so it might be lighter than whatever it's replacing, but by how many grams? It's there to look 'racey', but it looks tacky. Exposed carbon on actual, structural carbon bits, fine. Otherwise, no: it's like fake mesh, fake diffusers, etc.
That said, a couple of years later, I got caught up in carbon-fever when speccing my K-R500 (also long gone).
Never again.

question: hows does anyone actually use even half the performance of any of these cars?
I can't properly extend even my diesel estate car, with a paltry 300ish horses on the public road?
I know what you're saying but it's not quite as simple as that.I can't properly extend even my diesel estate car, with a paltry 300ish horses on the public road?
I have driven a V10 R8 (manual) and to be blunt, I hated everything about it as a road car, visibility is hopeless, steering remind me of the worse days of BMW's without rack&pinion (540i's etc), brakes that are impossible to finesse, and don;t get me started on the gearbox.
All this adds up to a car that I personally simply did not feel remotely comfortable to 'drive' the thing at anything more than 'normal' road pace.
in contrast, the MP4-12C is one of those cars that took less than 100M driving to feel comfortable and connected to, and it's much the same with the 911 Turbo, it drives as you expect it to as opposed to you never feeling 100% in control of it.
It's a shame really, because I like Audi's, and on paper, the R8 should work, but unlike the other two where I have no issue pushing the loud pedal to the floor, doing that with the R8 is not very confidence inspiring.

At this budget £150k to £180k
Nearly new is much better
lightly used - 458/ 650s spyder , Huracan
A 3 year old r8 V10 plus (old shape, but same engine, gearbox etc) can be had for £75k less than the new one
a decent low mile MP4-12C can be had for ~£110K these days....Nearly new is much better

I went into McLaren Manchester (Knutsford) in October with the intention of ordering a 570s, I thought a £145k list car could be had for £155k with extras...couple mins looking through the spec suggested a "sensible spec car" was going to be £170k+
At this level I wouldn't want to have too "live without"

I'd take the 570S if I were in the fortunate position of choosing, the Porsche is a close second though, what a fabulous piece of machinery - the R8 doesn't really do it for me though, pass.
McLaren 570S in that OTT bright green colour they use with a black interior, please
That's how I specced it....McLaren 570S in that OTT bright green colour they use with a black interior, please
