RE: Lexus LC 500 - Detroit 2016
Discussion
Huge Lexus fan here, and am on my second LS at the moment. I would have one of these in a heartbeat.
Look at the competition; turbos, smaller capacity, and st noise.
The looks seem to polarise people on here, but I think it has real presence, if you're into that (I'm not). For me, the numbers tell the story. Its a big car, which means it will be comfortable, with plenty of gadgets, it has that "built from granite" feel that any big Lexus has, will last longer that you will, and it goes pretty quickly.
Cant wait to have one in the garage.

no mention of price , £350,000 ?
Somewhere around $100,000, whatever that converts to here with the taxes etc. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/lexus-lc500-luxur...What's with the silly rise in bonnet until half the windscreen is cut off? Is this pedestrian crash protection? Get off the bloody road then!
Seriously though, surely designers can resolve this better? You end up with poor designs like the C-Class coupe which looks like they sucked the bodywork up then stuck a canopy on top.

Somehow I missed this in January. Just seen these images on speedhunters... What a great looking car!

I love this. I like the exterior, and I really like what they have done with the interior.
I had a discussion with my local Lexus dealer. No prices yet, but they reckon the V6 hybrid version will be just under 100k GBP. I reckon the V8 version would be between 70k - 80k GBP.
They really need to get it out ASAP. The CT should be their volume seller...

Where's the performance hybrid they should be able to?
There will be a performance hybrid version (google LC500h). V6 with electric motors. And - interestingly - a new transmission which removes the "CVT effect" of constant engine note. Apparently it is something completely new - some kind of blend of a CVT and 4-speed auto. Not a standard auto box.I had a discussion with my local Lexus dealer. I'd rather they invested some more effort into the lower end of the range, that's where the volume and the profit surely is?
Agree. IMHO the answer isn't "Toyota". Toyota are everyday cars. Lexus are more about luxury, something special. Looking at their current lineup, the CT200h is the worst of the lot; a pretty old design, interior feels dated, not really class leading in any aspect. A very good used buy, well built and reliable, but difficult to justify new without a big discount. They are apparently replacing it next year, and the rumour is that it will be more of a crossover than a hatchback (my guess is that it will be based on the Toyota C-HR, which in turn is based on the latest Prius). They really need to get it out ASAP. Saw the car in the flesh at Salon Prive last weekend and it looks awesome. Really nice place to sit too. They said pricing starting around £70k which sounded like a bargain to me. I put my name down to keep updated and am seriously considering it. Will keep the thread updated as I hear more and perhaps move into purchase mode.
