I couldn't be bothered to read 20+ pages so apologies if this has already been stated, but I'm surprised he wanted a CD player! Has he got any cd's at 17, surely he wants an ipod connection?
Doesn't help with his opinion of the car mind!
I'm worried I'm ultimately heading for the same thing in 8 years time. I'm convinced my son thinks I'm going to hand down whatever car I'm driving at the time to him when he passes his test. If his opinion doesn't change I may have to plead poverty 6 months before "cos times are hard son" and buy a C1 or something.
Mind you, the satisfaction that could then be had by pulling onto the drive the following day in whatever I actually want to be driving would be incredible

If you can't set expectations in 8 years then you are a rubbish negotiator!Vaud said:

Agreed But there could be more fun to be had in driving a stbox for 6 months, handing it on, then pulling onto the drive in a supercar 1 day later Which considering the amount I might save on insurance, fuel, servicing and tax, by driving a 1 litre supermini for the preceding 6 months, is not entirely unrealistic
But obviously I jest, it has been explained to him that he won't get my car and although at 9 years old he still has that naively optimistic "it just might happen" view on life, I'm convinced I can squash those dreams over the next few years.
