There's something about that stretch of the A57 that brings out the 'cock' in so many drivers

Some of the overtakes I've seen further on near the golf course defy belief

I must say, anyone who is able to defend the guys driving must drive like that on a daily basis, and frankly that is terrifying.
??? Nobody's doing that, unless I've missed something significant ???

Personally I'd have let him fk off into the sunset and involve someone else in his next big accident. If he'd lost it and wiped out a pedestrian or bike in that little traffic-lights grand prix, all it would need is one witness to say "they were racing"...

Don't know if they were attempting to race or what but lots of dodgy manoeuvres and overtakes. I almost drove into the side of the mini later on in the video after he had undertook the Prius and shot into the gap I was about to change into. Oh well...

I say 10 points to sump. The other driver was a moron who lost, then drives around central islands to prove he's a numpty as he couldn't win in a straight line.
Racing on the roads is illegal, the winner is the one who breaks the most rules. In this case, it was the Golf.

I'm surprised so many of you are willy waving on here about this one. If you can't see that you're more likely to end up with egg on your face by engaging, I can only hope it doesn't get you or anyone else in too much trouble.

This is absolute truth...

But anybody who can genuinely and honestly say that, if they were sat in a DB9 with some wally in a smoking council estate hatch in the outside lane, they wouldn't be at the very least tempted to do the same thing, is definitely sainthood material...

Problem is, that's a 'no-win' position. No pub bragging points for blowing the doors off a diesel Golf, if you're in a DB9.

But the one time in a thousand where you cock the gearchange, the clutch eats itself, or the diesel happens to have 500+BHP, you would *never* hear the end of it.

I think/hope I'd have passed on the 'opportunity'. But, yes, I'd have been sorely tempted smile

Your car sounds quite throaty, and I presume it's auto by the way it shifts, what is it? I'm thinking Merc?

Nice, I like them! Although I'm not sold on the quad exhaust, I think it looks a little ott.

I'm the opposite and quite like the quad exhaust to be honest, it's probably the only bit about the car that screams performance which is nice if like me you enjoy being able to drive about and be relatively ignored...

If you really wanted too you could just buy some black exhaust tips or never clean them, they eventually blend in!!

They're a great car though. I don't personally understand all the hate towards them on here... I tried everything, A45 AMG, M135i, S3, A3, 340i and the Golf was my favourite. Just a nice little car that does what it does well that will go a bit faster than a lot of other cars. Nice for cruising on the motorway, big enough for my work gear, it's pretty great plus the wife approved of it and its her daily driver!!

The new one will be an M135i or M140i whichever is around in 2 years. The wife tried one and liked it more than the Golf R which was surprising but by the time she made up her mind the Golf had been ordered!

I think most here would do the same to a car they saw trying to bully other road users and who is going to try and force their way in using a right only lane.

the idea that he 'lost' because he didn't play a lethal game of cat and mouse with him is absurd, overtakes like the ones the golf did end in tears, paralyzation and often death

Why? I don't see that causing any Damascene behvioural change in the Golf driver, (and just possibly, his driving was even worse after Sump's intervention?). I'm happy to have some traffic light fun with anyone who I have good reason to believe is a sensible, considerate driver - but with someone who you KNOW to be a complete knuckledragger???

We know Sump "won" because he knew when to stop, and knows the difference between exuberant acceleration and driving like a complete arse. But just don't expect the Golf driver to see it that way.

Exactly what I was going to say!

Everything else Sump has said or did in relation to that utter Bellend driving the golf I 100% agree with. In fact I found it quite amusing watching him failing to get past at those lights.

I'm with Sump too and would have done the same.

However, did I hear him actually say 'LOL' at 34 seconds ?!

If so then any credit goes right out of the window.

Guilty has charged with the Prodigy and saying LOL even though I think that's the first time I've ever said it. On a sidenote, the reason I started laughing after the overtake was that behind me he started flipping me off and doing that swerving in your own lane thing confused

Poor attitude to have, if you don't give a crap about your property or life, have some consideration for the poor tts unlucky enough to be coming head on toward you.

Goes without saying Golf guy is a tt, but let them get on with it, to engage them makes you one too.

I analysed the situation and concluded there was more than adequate room for the drama. Should he have had something more powerful than me then there was plenty of space infront of me to go, there was plenty of space behind me to go and there was plenty of space along the side of me for all the drama.

I was off the power at 0:23, more than enough time before the Pug was starting to enter the realm.

Like you analysed the situation bombing up the inside of that 4x4? If all that happens within 5 minutes of you entering the country, perhaps you need to take a look at yourself, because it tends not to happen to everyone else.

You go on to point out the ridiculous and dangerous overtake at 240, which we all, agree. But if you had just let him go on his way, not deliberately tried to stay in front of him, do you think he would have done that? Maybe, but maybe not?

Some people seem to always "attract trouble", and many have dashcams! Just saying.
