I know that bit of road well, the merge isn't for ages and in general being in the right-hand lane means you don't end up having to move out for all the people parked in the bike lane. Either way the Golf driver won't learn from that and will firmly believe they were in the right. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3u6q1ufbcbjxsia/MOVI0109...

She's just called, had a few quotes and the best came in at £60. I said it sounds reasonable and I'll meet her and give her the cash tomorrow.
It'll make my life much easier going forwards (and save a packet of money compared to if we went through insurance!)
I will also try my best to educate her on the errors of her ways
Unless you have some issue that you don't wish any insurance company to find out about, eg undeclared conviction, mods etc, it beggars belief that you are capitulating like this. It'll make my life much easier going forwards (and save a packet of money compared to if we went through insurance!)

This woman deliberately moved so as to cause an accident. She was no avoiding any other incident, she drove into your lane, but had no intention of actually using it. At the least it is driving without due care, but that suggest she was not paying attention, she was, and she did it deliberately, so it is careless or dangerous driving. After the collision, she soon joins your lane to pursue you, showing it is fine for her to use that lane when SHE wants, but clearly she doesn't want others using it when THEY want.
That video should be sent to the police, plane and simple. She is 100% wrong, it is aggressive and dangerous driving from someone that needs to be shown that is not acceptable.
All this about premiums going up for non fault claims, IMO it is balls. You have a video that proves it was her fault and it was no accident. If your premium goes up as a result of that sue her for it as a consequential loss.
I'm astonished that anyone would not only put up with a deliberate act like that to cause an accident, but futhermore would actually reward her for her actions.
It is a no brainer to take a stand against this woman. At the very least, go meet her, refuse to pay up, tell her it is video'd an online and you will be sending it to the police with a complaint about careless or dangerous driving. Tell her she did not indicate, and she was not trying to join your lane, she was trying to cause a crash and she did. Then ask HER for £60 for YOUR mirror.
And then tell her you will be sending the video too the daily mail and posting it on facebook along with her name so everyone can see what a pratt she is.

Source a right hand mirror from a left hand drive early 00's Polo/Lupo
VW beards will get why this would be funny.

Lets not forget, this is a wing mirror here, £60.
Also taking into account that I didn't even brake and potentially could've avoided hitting a stopped car if I'd have tucked into the kerb more. Its amazing to me that I was the one in the accident and I can look at it with more impartiality than people who weren't involved! I'm sure this is supposed to be the other way around
The women can enjoy any "smug" victory she may believe she has, she's 40 something driving a clapped out MK4 picking fights with people who really couldn't care less.
I'm just going to move on an enjoy my life
Meeting with her at 4pm anyway, will update on how the conversation goes.

Updates in the match.com thread?(if you haven't already seen it, you need to watch the video all the way to the end, it's one of my favourites...)
I had a similar shunt with some swivel eyed goon about a year ago. Ended up giving the tt £300 just to get lost, still less than it would have added to my insurance over the next 5yrs.
I consoled myself with the thought that he'll always be a swivel eyed goon driving a knackered old BMW, and an extra £300 quid in his pocket won't change that

much like this guy's channel, hurls abuse for most of the time very very minor things. He then shows himself speeding riding on pavements etc.(if you haven't already seen it, you need to watch the video all the way to the end, it's one of my favourites...)
If you watch his reaction to comments he look like he lives with his mum!

I don't like the way the world works but sometimes you have to play the game... If you even had the slightest clue over the years how much aggravation non fault accidents have caused me and how much £ I have spent on insurance due to fktards driving into me you might just begin to understand.

Very wise; you've clearly thought about what fights are worth having and lots of people seem to have missed the fact you have already said you probably could have stopped in time, so the incident isn't black and white.Lets not forget, this is a wing mirror here, £60.

I'll summarise.
I told her I just wanted to talk to her about the event first and reinforced that I would be giving her the £60 regardless of how the discussion went.
I explained that she can't just come over into moving traffic and try to block it, that it wasn't acceptable all things aside. She said that I could've stopped and shouldn't have tried to fit through the gap, I agreed. I told her that I had posted a link to the footage on a car website to gather opinions and the general consensus is largely that she's at fault. I also pointed out that if we did go through insurance it is likely that should would be found at fault for the collision. She jumped at "lets do that then if you want" I declined
She seemed like a nice enough lady, albeit a little misguided. Then we discussed merge in turns and how the road is badly designed (her words) and badly used (my words) I explained how they are supposed to work, but did concede that most people sit in the left lane on that stretch which creates an image of "pushing in" for people using the road correctly.
I left it completely up to her, but in the end she was happy to go £40/£20. I drew £40 and was on my way.
Apologies that the tale ended so boringly
On the plus side, that £20 will cover a few pints tonight Happy days
