The "Sh*t Driving Caught On Cam" Thread Vol II

I think the bike put themselves in a dangerous position, I think the car driver wasn't as observant as they could/should be.
But the car driver will say "the bike came out of no where, was in my blind spot whilst trying to illegally undertake me" all of which is supported by the bikers camera evidence whereas the bikers defence will be "the car driver should have seen me".
The biker didn't seem to be significantly gaining on the car in the beginning seconds of the video, so I'd say there was no undertake on the cards. The car seemed to brake very late and sharply, and obviously no indicator, so I'd guess that the driver suddenly realised they were about to miss their turning (or decided to take that turn). The brake lights come on when the car is about level with the start of the double yellows. But the car driver will say "the bike came out of no where, was in my blind spot whilst trying to illegally undertake me" all of which is supported by the bikers camera evidence whereas the bikers defence will be "the car driver should have seen me".
Initially I was more inclined to call it 50:50, as the biker should expect dheads, but the more I look at it the more I think the driver was just an impatient, inconsiderate knob.
100% car in this one. Failed to take observations. No signal. Cut across 2 lanes in one move.
Also, bad form to dash into a turn like that - not against the rules or anything, just a bit st driving.
Rider could drive more defensively.
Whether the rider was going to pass or not is out of the question - because they didn't. Also, there's no concept of undertaking on streets, certainly not in the rules of the road in the UK.

The bold bit: completely agree, that was another thing I meant to say - if this took place on a regular 2-lane dual carriageway, there would be no question of fault. Because the inside lane is a bus lane, there seems to be a reluctance to treat that as a proper lane. Also, bad form to dash into a turn like that - not against the rules or anything, just a bit st driving.

That's possibly trueIf youre turning left across a bus lane how much do you check what's coming up it or do you assume that anything behind you wont undertake and will wait until you've completed the turn
I think on the bike I'd have worked out the car was turning left and eased off a bit until it had completed
There's a line in the HC about avoidance

If the biker's using a bus-only lane then I have no sympathy tbh.

Meh. Cam car's going too slow. Why solid whites there, seems OTT. Maybe it's a perspective thing with the camera?Would leave the overworked cops to get on with real work.
As the cam car, I'd ask myself if there's anything i could have done to deter an overtake at a point with 2 hazards. Like getting a bloody move on.

Completely disagree.
Looked like the biker was going for an overtake in the bus lane.
What happened to riding defensively and actually expecting the unexpected happening in front of you?
Bike rider was going too fast if he couldn't avoid the car, no matter what the car decided to do.
Watched it a few times, the car suddenly braked and turned left, obviously didn't see the bike. Most bikes have headlight on, some buggers have them on FULL beam, if he did, then more evidence the car driver just didn't look. He was in the wrong lane for a left turn, if and I am not sure it was a bus lane, isn't there a turn area before the left turn to alow you to get in the inside lane ready for the turn.Looked like the biker was going for an overtake in the bus lane.

Looks like 30 anyway with a footpath. Your absolutely about the BMW driver, a total Richard.
Was a 30 limit, I was doing exactly 30 with a baby in the car past the college entrance when the overtake took place. I'm all for making progress when it's appropriate.A bloke once brake tested me (after I hooted due to him cutting in front of me on a spiral roundabout - I was young!). I avoided it, got round him and he then followed me to the shops. He said I woke his baby up by hooting...
He cut me up of which I had to take avoiding action of hitting his car.
He brake tested me. (Grammar fail? Sounds weird).
He then tailgated me to the shops.
Got out of his car and walked with me for about 40 metres, leaving his baby in the car unattended.
None of these meant meant any harm to his precious baby, of course...but me hooting did.
