That is nasty. I assume there were fatalities, not least the driver that caused it.

It's a problem because people have stopped to help, been held accountable for the injuries and forced to pay damages to the injured person.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/worldvie...

"The most oft-cited case is that of Peng Yu, a Nanjing man who stopped to help an elderly lady who fell and broke her hip five years ago. Faced with sky-high medical costs, the 65-year-old lady turned on the Good Samaritan and alleged that he had caused her to fall. In a ruling that cites no evidence whatsoever, the Nanjing court accepted the woman's claims, finding it “at odds with reason” that Mr. Peng would have helped her merely out of the goodness of his heart. He was ordered to pay $6,000 towards the woman’s medical bill."

Obviously this is a huge generalization but I firmly believe the Chinese are the least humane race on the planet. There's just so many examples of them having a complete disregard for their fellow man.
Really?

2:55 - to be fair to the van driver, the set of lights next to him did turn green. Although the road layout looks a little confusing to me - is that a bus only lane on the left? Is the middle right turn only (if so why two lanes). If the van was in the correct lane to go straight on, why did his lights remain red when the ones next to him turned green?

This is the service road around Heathrow between the main complex and T5. The left lane used by the bus goes to T5 and has a separate light. The van was in the wrong lane and jumped his light rather than going around the loop and having another go. The approach is 2 lanes and not lane marked particularly well. I have seen this a few times in that junction but not with the copper in position to pounce.

Unfortunately true. Start in the UK and head east into Europe and the further you go the less people care about others. The Polish. The Russians. Same in China. It's a numbers thing and a responsibility issue as previously reported. In the UK someone might step on you to get one rung up the ladder. In China someone will step on you just to get 1mm towards the next rung. And some in China will step on you just to be a nasty st.

If you feel that I'm being xenophobic then good for you. Face the truth rather than being in denial. If anything xenophobia/racism is more prevalent in the Chinese than the English.

When I was at university in Manchester there were a lot of Chinese students, some of whom I'm still in touch with now, and they're all perfectly nice people. However, China does seem to have a culture where life is cheap and respect is barely existent.

There was a video published online recently, nothing to do with driving, of some sort of employee motivational guru spanking bank workers with a stick and cutting their hair in front of their fellow employees to humiliate them for not reaching their targets.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-3658348...

India is said to have the same issue with people not wanting to stop and get involved in road accidents because they're likely to be blamed for them if they do on the basis that no one would stop and help out of concern for their fellow human being.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-36446652

One of the incidents that brought about a Good Samaritan Law in China, detailed here,

http://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/1293475/she...

was this incident of a little girl being knocked down in a market and ignored by people passing by and even being run over again by another van as she lay in the road. She later died in hospital.

They made that into a film, it's good. It's called the wolf of wall street. The Chinese accents are murder but they subtitle it.

If it helps you I am actually Chinese and it saddens me that my fellow countrymen are like this.

You don't come off looking like one of those stereotypical cowards at all. Good job.

Just shared these comments with my family and being Chinese they strongly disagree.

Thanks for all the credit but the footage isn't mine. I just happened to stumble upon on a different site. Sorry to disappoint.

There was a BBC news website article (I tried to find it but my Google skills have failed me) that addresses this issue in India. For the main part people are frightened to get involved because of corruption. There are numerous cases where someone has tried to help, the authorities turn up and then arrest anyone there...

Actually I see it's been answered further up...I should have read all of the posts.

I read the same article - it was about a bloke campaigning to change the behaviour through legislation. And I can't find it either.
