Time to throw a hand grenade in and run.... RE US Biker Video...

I see it as a deliberate attempt by the biker to create confrontation....

He drops well back from the rear of the truck and the driver in the car accelerates to keep up with the truck whereas Nasal Whiney Biker drops back... he had plenty of time and opportunity to overtake the truck prior to the car becoming visible on his right...

In the UK a biker would have been long gone and making progress....

He started on her a full 4-5 seconds before the road actually merges...He knew exactly what he was going to do, I wonder if there was an earlier incident that he is not sharing...

looks odd to me too - something reminiscent of uphill wotsit

I thought the same. As with a lot of these videos - the cammer often seems to look for potential conflicts and precipitate them so they can upload their videos and get hits/attention.
100% He is spoiling for a fight as is the case with many dash cam warriors.

Any other driver would have been well ahead of that woman at the point of merge.

The Yaris is travelling at some speed, especially round that bend. Slamming on the anchors and high speeds = fast loss of control.

I only watched very quickly but I'm placing a fair amount of blame on the Yaris for doing warp speeds.

BMWs fault for overtaking there, if it was a NSL road and he was doing 55 I can't see what the Yaris did wrong. Also can't believe how calm he was!

He claims he was doing 55mph, every single person in an accident claims to be doing 5mph below the limit which is a strange coincidence wink

My first thought is that he was shifting, as much as a 1.0 Yaris can, followed by braking hard when the car was light after the crest then a bit of left turn and it was game over. I did like his comment at the end "I liked that car". Devils advocate mode: he might have been doing 55mph and the camera just made it appear faster, the police didn't take any action.

TBH I don't think he was going crazy fast, looks like 50 ish to me.
But that said, had he driven to the conditions he would have not ended up on his roof.
No doubt about it though that bimmer driver took a big risk.
Also a bit odd to drive round with a go pro attached to his head.... redface

I don't think the brakes was working correctly, it seem to pull to the right when he brakes and there is only one skid mark, he may have over compensated by steering to the left?

His brakes pull him to the right and he snaps back. I would say st tyres or poor brakes would be worth a look at. The car is light after he crested the incline. I would say (as a GoPro user and being used to the type of recording/output) that he is going faster that 55mph.

I assume he was steering very slightly to the right due to bend in the road. I didn't look closely at the skid marks but he said that that one didn't look like his, possibly someone else's.

Yeah, those 1.0 Yarises are proper scary quick, well known for their huge power and blistering speed. rolleyes

Come on, how can "a fair amount of blame" fall on the Yaris driver? He was on his side of the road FFS. The BMW was making a dangerous overtake with (obviously) insufficient visibility. "Be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear" goes out of the window* when the closing speed is 130+ mph. Why wasn't the BMW driver travelling at a speed so he could stop in the distance he could see to be clear?

Some of the judgementalism on here beggars belief.

 *Just like the Yaris driver.

everything is relative......70mph (easy in a Yaris) is "quick" for it on that road.

Yaris ALSO could not stop inside their vision distance, IF there had been a turning tractor over the crest ? what then.

BMW is totally at fault however.

Here's the Yaris in better quality:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTKL-WERvWw

We had one of these 1 litre tarmac-shredders in the family a while ago. When it arrived, it had a selection of differing ditch-finders on each corner. On braking, it would wildly lurch to one side.

£40 a corner for some new Michelins, and the car was transformed. I suggest that the Yaris pilot here may have been on some varied, crap rubber and paid the price.

Thanks form that video there is no way he was going more than about 50 IMHO.
Brakes down to about 25-30 ish before he leaves the road and just gets unlucky that it digs in and goes over. Loses another 15mph I would say. Car is basically stopped at the time it goes upside down.

Can see he puts in a "dab of oppo" as he hits the brakes so its all going wrong from that moment really. Just lucky it went left IMHO.

Cammer (read: incompetent bell-end):

  • Tailgates for the whole video. Never is he more than 1 second away.
  • Harasses woman with his laughing/gesticulation etc
  • States that the woman "admits" to driving less than 30 in a 30, as if the woman is in the wrong for doing so.
  • Adds the video to his collection of "other people nearly crashing into him on a daily basis" videos.
  • Continues his bad driving for evermore, not ever realising that he is the idiot.

Is it me, or is the Yaris REALLY slow at reacting to the overtaking car? Plus, a little less speed through the unsighted bends/peaks would have been a good idea.
