Doofus manages to smash a Croydon tram off its tracks
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/croydon-tram...

Driver had to be cut out of the car, so hopefully giving him or her the presumably massive bill for checking over the tram, putting it back on the rails, and the many hours of disruption to all the other trams, will be a simple task.

Sorry not a car cam, but a cyclist. And what a wker !

http://youtu.be/IsB2Samh8og

At 0:55 he approaches a very slow car merging from the right at speed then complains that they 'cut him up'

What an absolute dhead, riding like that is going to get him hurt.

Ah the good old Segensworth roundabout, always good for plenty of lane wandering smile
Best one are the drivers who suddenly need to get to the TGI Friday turn off but realising they need to get across the lane going all the way round towards Park Gate.
Lived in Warsash in the 80's thru '97 when it quiet...(ish) Couldn't live there now.

Sorry I completely disagree. The driver clearly CLEARLY didn't check mirrors, didn't indicate and jerkily changed lanes. The consequences to people on bikes are significantly higher to those driving. I think the rider was totally right to be pissed off. Had I been the driver I personally would have held my hand up in apology and make sure to use my mirrors in future.

One day of driving around London will convince you people are awful here and the more they are reminded to actually check their mirrors the better. Just last night my dog and I almost got flattened by a white 15 plate one series with blacked out windows and loud music going like a bat out of hell turning down a side street that I was crossing without indicating. Here's the streetview https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4426777,-0.10531...

EDIT: Incidentally the right hand lamp post is no longer there from someone losing control and hitting it- it's a 30 zone! London drivers are abysmal. Being a cyclist here must be a fking nightmare.

I personally wouldn't do it. But ultimately if you're driving with due care and attention you've little to fear from a cyclist with cameras on. I personally would feel quite ashamed if my driving landed me on youtube. My reaction wouldn't be to 'deck' anyone.

As soon as you see that greeny yellow disc in the window you should back the fk off.

Right or wrong, some cyclists have little sense of self preservation. Maybe they think they can rub the highway code on broken bones?

We know that defensive riding is more likely to get you killed. This accounts for the disproportionate number of women killed on bikes. A sense of self preservation isn't often actually very useful, it simply changes who knocks you off... i.e. car behind rather than car cutting in etc etc.

I don't cycle as I've already said, but the attitude of cars towards cyclists is abysmal. I'm not surprised they feel the need to have the bike equivalent of dash cams on them.

And of course, being PH, there's no criticism of the throbber driving the car for forcing somebody to take avoiding action in the first place. hehe

Tesco lorry driver at 3:22 is a ballbag as well.

Apart from popping off it's rails the tram seems to do pretty well there, as it should.

The car was already there before he arrived and tried to shoot down the left side of the car ! The car was inline with traffic and completed their manoeuvre.

Anyone could see the cars intended route and to put oneself into that position, is a fool.

I disagree, I personally think it's pretty clear the car changed lanes without checking or indicating. I think it's correct to bring this to the drivers attention. Had the bike been 15 feet further forward and the car chosen to do the same thing you'd have a crash on your hands. As before, in a car it's not a big deal, just a fender bender. On a bike it could be death.

I'd also wager the car jumped the red, hence being where it is when the cyclist is released.

Cyclist appears to be out of the saddle cycling as hard as possible in to danger though, and not at all because he has a Channel 4 camera guy right behind him I'm sure.

What do you mean by 'in to danger'. Assuming the car had not decided to change lanes, what is 'in to danger' about it? I'm sorry, I just don't get it! As far as I can see the bike has powered off the lights to avoid being overtaken and then having to re-overtake in traffic, the car then comes across in to the bikes path.

Just imagine the cyclist was a car... would you think the same?

Either way! I'm not sure we're all going to agree. So I'll leave it there. However my parting comment is that I think use of mirrors and consideration for others on the road is abysmally low in London and everything possible should be done about it.

I'll start by saying the car is at fault here - but my point is that the cyclist is the person at risk here.

He's a self styled "vigilante" who is out on his bike being filmed by a Channel 4 reporter, in a report about how dangerous it is for cyclists. He's looking for trouble, and finds it very easily by placing himself in danger. He's seen the car turning right, and has accelerated into a position where, if the car does move across, he'll be there ready and waiting with the camera rolling to capture it. Just my opinion.

The second I heard him say "I've got a camera" I knew he was a tt, no normal person has ever felt the need to tell the world this. Same as those who shout out the car registration plate, instant tt status.

What are the cams?

There are some people whose videos you could end up on even if you were doing nothing wrong. It's possible to see what people might to and avoid entering situations where conflict may occur and the incident with the black Mercedes was one of them.

Take the example of the new mini roundabout near where I live. Despite alterations to make it more visible and obvious, people still charge through without stopping. I'm always hesitant turning right and can generally predict correctly who will stop and who won't. Some people will pull across the path of cars coming fast and will sooner have those cars crash into them to prove those drivers are in the wrong than let them go even though they should be giving way.

When cyclists take the attitude of proving themselves to be in the right even if it results in a collision it's even more dangerous for them. The first rule of the Highway Code is to cede priority if it avoids a collision. Keeping yourself safe is more important than the boost to your ego of winning an argument with somebody in the street and quoting Rule XYZ of the Highway Code is no good when you're bleeding at the roadside.
