HC is a guide that also includes the law.
We both know that as do many others but some treat is as a guide book for some reason.

Car overtake was fine, bike overtake was through an amber and straight through at a right turn only lane. Biker was the instigator and a tough guy right up to his deserved slap.
Is the Highway Code talking bks, or are you? biggrin

Highway code is a guide, not the law. What's the issue?
The HC is indeed a guide but 90% of the population think it is the law, so we have to drive with that in mind do we not?

Doing anything because it is a guide not the law means the idiots follow you.
Anything in the HC listed as MUST or MUST NOT is law. Anything listed as SHOULD or SHOULD NOT (or similar) are not law but can/will be taken into account in accidents, court proceedings etc.

yes The HC contains laws, not everything the HC contains is a law,

Still not been told what was illegal with the BMW overtake......

Nothing explicitly illegal about it (with the exception of breaking the speed limit of course), just a bit stupid.

.

If he had some mirrors on his bike, he'd have seen the BMW in the first place!
He has a mirror on his LH side of his handlebars.

They're as bad as each other. Biker could have continued at his normal pace and then probably overtaken the BMW futher ahead without any gesticulating.

I'd say that the BMW performed a st overtake as he was very close to the biker as it didn't even look like he was straddling the centre white lane when he passed.

However, i do think there was previous interaction between them sometime before.
At 39 seconds the BMW is waiting to enter the roundabout from the nine o'clock position, one behind the grey Punto. Ten seconds later, with no cut in the video, the BMW passes less than an arm's length away from the motorcyclist.

It was a close pass at speed. It may not feel like it sat in a coccoon and a comfy chair...

Can you point out where I said that the HC was the law?

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/intro...

"Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offence."

"Such rules are identified by the use of the words ‘MUST/MUST NOT’. In addition, the rule includes an abbreviated reference to the legislation which creates the offence."

Another compilation from WelshDrive. There's some terrible manufactured/exacerbated examples from cammers on this one, and I have to say I agree with many of the comments regarding the lane hogging of the channel owner and others in his clips. You can't really moan about someone 'undertaking' (albeit very aggressively) when lane 1 is absolutely empty and everyone is hogging lanes 2 and 3... Especially when you go on to undertake someone else later in the compilation when the situation is reversed.

Some really strange ones in there like at 11:57, I can't even see what's wrong...

Loads of people getting pissed off with MLMs/poor lane discipline too.

I had one today a new range rover sport trudging along in lane 2 of a DC. I was waiting behind and just under the limit. Lane 1 became free and he looked to move over then move back still at same speed as before. I wait a bit more than decide to undertake.
RRS then decided to race me when all I wanted to do was get past him as I was late for work.

I don't understand the mentality of some people, but a £800 diesel Skoda was still faster than his 60k motor.. smile

Good comment: "Of all places, this idiot does a hit and run in Russia; where even a baby stroller has a dashcam."

Nice when there's nothing they can do about it because their car just isn't as fast though wink Had some kid do this yesterday in his blinged up Fiesta, didn't have much a chance against my 300bhp Megane though (although I should know better! hehe )

So much really poor driving in this compilation! So glad that someone had the presence of mind to record themselves doing it!

The end result of st-driving.
Honda driver collided with a wide-load.

The nearside verge is clear of any obstacles/road signs so the wide load would have been well over to the nearside and yet the Honda driver still managed to take out the entire side of his car.
