Friday evening or monday morning commute is entirely like this. Usually everyone runs at the same speeds of around 60-70mph, which makes it pointless sitting in the outside lane

I still don't feel if you carry on in L1 and he is is L3 that's undertaking.

I have always thought if you catch someone up in L3, drop to L2 to pass and go back into L3, that's undertaking.

Often you find yourself in the situation in the photo, are you expected to move over to L3 hoping Mr Idiot will move over to let you pass.

I would continue in Lane 1 and ignore L3 driver. Someone replied to me earlier on in a different thread to say they wouldn't class it as undertaking, just continuing your course in your lane.
Thanks for that, better leave it as is, don't want to deviate this thread.

To be fair, the Focus is following the BMW at the correct distance, waiting for BMW to move over, who is following/waiting for the Discovery, who is following/waiting for <whatever the dark coloured car is> to move over who is following waiting for etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

They should just legalise undertaking and be done with it.
To be fair?

If you can't make progress in L3 you might as well move left, then wait until the traffic clears and speed up again. In this example you'd still be going the same speed in L2 as you were if you were in L3 so you're not losing any time...

People are too scared to lose 'their place in the queue' or get offended with being overtaken.

What gets me is that if you sit in lane 2 or lane 1, matching the speed of the lemmings in lane 3, when you indicate to change lane and overtake something in your lane, the people in the "queue" get offended as if you have somehow "pushed in".

I just cruse past in Lane #1 with the occasional move to #2 to over take trucks.
As long as your not driving like a nob at silly speeds I cannot see MrPlod bothering about it.

Yes, it's the great British queueing/anti "queue jumper" mentality. If it was the great British drive on the left mentality....

'Blame it on black ice' then the driver doesn't need to face up to their own poor driving.

At the start of the clip you can clearly see it is partly on the wrong side of the road and swerves back to miss the MPV, but over doing it and hitting the grass bank. Textbook example of poor driving and over reaction.

Some reports say she is thrown from car so was not wearing her seatbelt either, some people are beyond help.

Not as annoying as fking aroud in lane 3/ overtaking lane/ offside lane at 71 mph, then when they move back in to lane 2/1, fking boot it to 90

thn pull back out at 70

a special circle of hell....

Report suggests it was also crashed. Which should have been a warning to the Saxo driver.

or the target fixation lot, ie speed up until theyre well within 2 car spaces (normally 1 space), then once target moves over, they are left floundering and not quite sure what to so slow down

Exactly, don't do too much motorway work fortunately, but many times I've just moved into L2/1, only for a couple of drooling mouth-breathers to roll up behind the car I was following (who I'd probably just passed a few miles earlier), refuse to let me in, then hold me up (again) as they dither in the overtaking lane by not moving over/accelerating when clear etc. rolleyes If you (Swanny) would let someone in after they previously moved over to avoid clogging up the overtaking lane then hats off to you but suspect you'd be in the minority...

Not enough footage but also seemed quite fast compared to the MPV

I always do - I wouldn't put myself in conflict with another road user smile

People who accelerate and block overtakes/lane changes do not have the mental capacity to drive and should not be allowed to do so.
