What did the guy in the Nissan at 8.01 do to deserve being side swiped by the guy in the Mazda? He's driving along, the guy in the Mazda objects to not having a clear run off the sliproad and to having to slow a little and merge in behind and decides to sideswipe the Nissan.
Because; Russia

Would you say this was poor observation from the bus or is he just enforcing his right be let out? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yItL32kngbQ
What right? confused

I often don't let buses out because I don't want to sit behind them breathing their stty Euro III derv smoke. Hybrid ones I'm more inclined to let in front of me.
I thought that you had to give way to buses leaving bus stops.
Highway Code would like you to but you don't HAVE to:

HC said:
Rule 223
Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road.
I'm inclined to agree with Mr303.

Buses and learner drivers can sod off, and before you start bleating, by learner drivers I mean the ones that blatantly shouldn't be on a public road since they have no control or spatial awareness and need to spend an hour or two pootling round a car park to get a feel for the car.

Although I do so enjoy having to do an emergency stop because the bellend in front decides he's going to let the bus out at the last minute, completely oblivious to the fact that there's only me behind him and by the time the bus driver realises he's being let out & finally gets going, me and the tt in front would've been long gone leaving a nice bit of empty road for the bus! banghead

On that Karma clip the lorry at 4:50 really fks me off. Just back off and let him in, you'd have done exactly the same, stupid lorry driving .
Remember seeing that clip last year or whenever it first came out and thinking "tosser" and i still do today.

I can't dispute your conclusion smile

100% stupidity on both sides IMO.

Okay, the caravan is a cock for pushing in late. Is it worth having an 'accident' over it? Not in my book.

You've just made minor contact with a lorry whilst performing a selfish manoeuvre in your caravan hauler, wife/family on board, do you keep pushing to get ahead to the point of having your vehicle smashed and un-drivable? Not if your sane.

Irresistible stupidity meets immovable stupidity.
Reality check completed. Both participants failed the test.

Damn right. I had a similar thing going on behind me last week in all the M25 flooding craziness between a lorry (behind me) and a van (trying trying to merge from a closed lane ahead).

It was getting more and more aggressive so I ended up opening a big old gap in front of me then waving the van driver to merge in front of me. Trucker must have been fuming. hehe But fk him anyway for blocking someone trying to merge in turn. .

I agree with both of you!
Stupid on both parts for sure.

The main thing is though, the Caravan guy was indicating for a good 10-12 seconds plus whatever he was indicating prior. Totally wrong to cut in but the camera lorry was just being a tt..

I'm sure the lorry driver would have hated you! One rule for them.....

Close windows and put HVAC on recirc? Rather that than have a bus drive into you...

TBH, leaving aside opinions, it's the caravan owner who has the responsibility to move safely into another lane but I can quite imagine, looking at how heavy the traffic is, that the caravan owner was essentially trying to jump the queue and that always creates the possiblity that people will take exception to you doing so. 'Leaning' on an HGV was just a clarification that he was a dhead, essentially 'I'll leave it the last minute, get in front of god knows how many other patiently waiting drivers and then I'll force you to give way.' It was pretty unbelievable when even though a gap no longer existed he still went for it. One of the stupidest bits of driving ever IMO.

I wonder if there was an insurance/prosecution outcome?

Yes it does. But why 50/50? How about this analogy. A car is driving along the left hand lane of a dual carriageway approaching a slower car in front. Another faster travelling car is in the right hand lane and is about to overtake the car in the left hand lane (approaching the slower car) when it pulls out without looking or indicating to overtake the slower vehicle and contacts the car in the right hand lane which is already overtaking. Who is at fault?
That's not the correct analogy. The correct one would be that the overtaking car was straddling the white line for no good reason, just as the one overtaking the cyclist in the vid was, for no good reason.

I despair at this place, when it comes to driving. For me, in that vid, the cyclists can do pretty much what they like because I would be entirely in the other lane. Why would you do otherwise?

What a load of bks all this talk of lifesavers is etc. It's just an excuse for st driving imo. What was going to happen re 1 cyclist overtaking another was obvious yet doesn't cause a problem because there's plenty of room - unless you're a moron like the driver in the blue car is.

The driver overtakes and then (as ever) delays the person he's overtaken. It's really st driving yet merits barely any criticism here on PH.

When you take a second to think about why they're called that, the fact the cyclist didn't bother with one is probably indicative of his attitude towards other road-users, one of "I'm going to do what the fk I want and everyone else can just deal with it".

Whether he had priority/ROW/the car should've moved over/given him more room in the first place/held back and let the cyclist overtake, won't matter one single bit if he can't be arsed to simply look over his shoulder and see if the maneuver he's about to make is safe.

NEVER assume your blind spot is clear, ESPECIALLY if you're a vulnerable road user such as a cyclist.

The fact he's a squishy human being arguing with tonnes of metal being driven at speed and close proximity to him, apparently not entering his teeny little brain.

He can bh all he wants but ultimately he was as much to blame for that as the car driver.

Dear god, and now bh is banned?! banghead

yes

It was drummed into us during motorcycle training; it's so ingrained now that I do it when I'm changing direction when walking normally down the street or pushing a trolley in a supermarket and I haven't ridden a bike in 5 or 6 years.
