Previous with that one I reckon.
I'd go with that.
I did wonder if the Vectra had just brake tested the van a moment before the video before accelerating off, would explain the dodgy overtake.

The incident is on the A428 going into Northampton. A few hundred yards earlier the road goes from 2 lanes to 1 outside the BMW dealer. I suspect that there was a disagreement at that merge point that has been edited from the clip.

I really dislike this guy. He's my neighbour and his driving is just poor all the time. He has his own assigned parking space that he refuses to park in, often choosing to take up a visitor bay and leave his space empty. He's always speeding in and out of the car park and the visibility isn't that great looking out onto the road or into the car park. You're out of luck if you meet him when you're exiting and he's entering, he will bully his way in, either by driving up into you to make you reverse as he did with my wife or waving his hands around like a crazy person like he did with me when I refused to move considering I'd driven all the way from the car park to the road so I refused and sat there until he moved out the way.

Anyway, he pulled out of the car park today without looking just as I was getting into my car and this happened. The Focus driver was NOT happy at all and it was much closer than it looked! Shame the mic was off. https://youtu.be/8o9MJ6Hv8IM

Micra drivers an idiot, clearly. But police seem to be going a little fast too, he pulled left pretty hard so I'm assuming he was out of range of the car he had just passed?

Presume the insurers would side with the van - claiming from the Vectra's policy?

This cyclist needs more than a lifesaver check - emerging head on into traffic from behind a parked van, and hands off handlebars.
Only sheer luck that we missed.

They don't have much road sense at that age...

The other day I saw a chap cycling along, playing pokemon, listening to music with no hands on the handlebars

Some of these 'pedestrians on bicycles' beggar belief!

Does it really matter how fast it seems like the police car was going? I don't think it does.

I do. Clearly going faster than the rest of traffic, doesn't sound like they're on a call - no lights, sirens etc... They didn't continue on, they stopped to turn around. If they're not on a call or driving somewhere to attend something policey then they should be driving to the speed limit.

That wasn't my point though, my point was commenting on how far left the police car swerved and how I hoped he was out of range of the car he had just passed otherwise he could have caused a second incident by swerving.

The Daily Mail has an interesting take on that.

They clearly didn't bother to watch the video before 'writing' the article.

I sort of see your point; I couldn't out if the swerve was a reaction to the appearance of the Micra.

Either way, the Micra driver was an utter tool - he began his overtake on some cross hatching/chevrons and without the Police car the only way he could have completed the move would have been to go the wrong side of the traffic island.

Anyone else think that the police car was responding to a call? I know there's no audible siren, but the way that the silver Merc moved into the bus lane surely is a giveaway?

I'm just making an assumption that they weren't, I thought the Merc was turning left but he could have been moving over, you're right. My post was just to say I hope the police car swerving didn't affect the car to his left that he'd just overtaken as there was a pretty big bang but that's probably the Micra hitting the central crossing.
