'Comments disabled' is my acid test of whether to watch one of these uploads.

I don't bother watching any videos were comments are disabled now, they are almost always full of non-events.
...or incidents caused or exacerbated by the dashcammer.

No they're not worth watching because they're virtually all crushingly dull and minor everyday annoyances. You don't need to watch them on YouTube, you only need to drive for 10 minutes to see that sort of stuff.

It's like making a channel from the CCTV of the local pub with no fights or drunk people falling over in a comical fashion but instead composed solely of clips of people not washing their hands after they've been for a piss

Where I grew up, we were taught to not pee on our own hands.

As a further aside; knowing of many people's abject terror at touching anything 'nasty', I have been known to not dry my hands thoroughly after washing, thus ensuring that the handle to the facilities is a bit damp after I have exited.

Warning! Other users of the facilities may thus find themselves trapped indefinitely by such actions.

Here's another complication of non-events. Nobody dies so you'll probably find it real boring.

Excellent example of Police driving included:

Dangerous driving: overtaking on blind bend; crossing solid double white centre lines.

No emergency is worth causing a potentially fatal crash for.

I lasted a few minutes, then closed the video, absolutely nothing happens, basically watching a lorry driver go about his business.

Exactly - the wookie gets it!

You could drive around any town or city centre and find similar goings on. The whole 'rah rah rah you're st at driving because you encroached into my lane by a wheel width' thing is so passé now, it's been done to death.

Imagine one of the You've Been Framed type TV shows with people almost falling over, but not quite... most people would switch off after 5 minutes.

I see stuff like this daily and could easily post up on this thread. One of two things will either happen:

1. People will say my driving position is bad and rip me to pieces.
2. Call the video a non-event and encourage you not to post them.

I notice that this thread isn't so much about the videos of bad driving, regardless of how minimal/extreme and more about critiquing everything going on or saying they'd have done X, Y or Z different. I'd rather have a thread where you could post every day bad driving stuff with people going 'yeah, thats bad' than a thread where people expect to see huge crashes and dead bodies. That's what LiveLeak is for!
A thread like that would do nothing but reinforce the stereotype of dashcam owners/video posters being hyper-critical hair trigger drivers though.

Before dashcams were a thing, people would probably have a bit of a rant if they were cut up and then forget about it. Now, thanks to the dashcam warrior, these tiny, almost insignificant mistakes are broadcast for all to critique and remain on the internet forever.

It's not all about massive crashes and certainly not about dead bodies but the majority of videos highlight epic lapses in concentration by not only the third parties, but also the cammer. This is where the critique comes in, as without criticism (positive or otherwise), some people will never learn. The mob on youtube who engineer clips that feature 10+ seconds of horn then disable comments on the video are patient zero when it comes to this kind of thing.

IMO near misses are a complete non-story. They happen daily, all over the country (and the world) yet life goes on with no ill effects.

As an example - the one above with the polo cutting in, had it been me in the car, it would have lead to a lifting of the accelerator and that's about it. Certainly not fking this, fking that, then uploading to youtube, and I drive with a dashcam too!

Edited by Mr Happy on Sunday 30th October 23:18
And you've just proven my point exactly. I wouldn't say the guy posting the clip with the Polo was a dashcam warrior as his clip features bad driving (might not be super bad, but still bad) yet you say it's not good enough, go on to explain what you would have done differently and then criticise some more.

I honestly don't even know why I bothered signing back up after I forgot the password to my old account.

Got anything to say about this selection of clips? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C84Mq3IMRgg Or are they all non-events and not worth watching because nobody dies?

The clips are predominantly boring non events that you'd see on any road, in any city in the UK, and as I said earlier "It's not all about massive crashes and certainly not about dead bodies" - anyone who actively wants to watch people snuff it is more than a bit weird in my books.

If you want a massive circle jerk where everyone tosses each other off over how bad it is to see a car cut another car up, until you're all frothing together in some form of bad driving-derived orgasmic unloading, then feel free to post that thread. I'll avoid it though - I don't like (fnarr) sticky situations!!
