Well when I first saw it I did wonder if the overtaking car was going to go for the second pass.....so, do you not thing the overtaking car "frightened" it into braking thinking it would speed up the process ? (as there was a car coming the other way)simoid said:

I'm going with the latter, it's Jct 9 of the M40 heading North on the A34. Used to be a roundabout but now has lights. Probably drove on and suddenly realised it's a roundabout although they had a green light.

Zafira driver got spoked and in the fight or flight situation, braked and swerved. There is nothing else to it and I don't understand how anyone can come to any other conclusion. Driver thought he/she was about to get hit either by the civic, or the debris/cars from oncoming side in the event of a collision between civic and them so made a snap decision.
The dialogue from the camera car even points to this as those guys observed the behaviour in front of them.
Sometimes your brain makes a decision without a moment's notice when pressed with a situation, it just automatically happens and there's nothing you can do about it in that moment.
We can debate all we want on the internet, but in those situations out on the road, that is exactly what happens.
But if your in a zafira and make a decision like that (so awful!) you shouldn't be on the road. No one is saying the Civic's driving was 'safe', just that the first overtake was mostly alright and it was the crazy actions of the Zafira that turned the situation from, "that's not the best overtake I've seen this year, but it's certainly not the worst" into, "Christ on a bike, what's that f

king cum-gargler playing at!"Zafira is watching the road/on-coming traffic AS WELL AS a cut up cam car and an aggressive nob who looked like he was going for take 2, remember the Zafria is not looking in his mirrors all the time. He made a bad choice but that was caused by aggression and anyway, Who.T.F. expects a Zafria to be sensible ?
