So it rusts, it's uncomfortable, it's unreliable and has a "torque dip"
Okay, I'll bite.I've never heard of any rusting accept this guys.
Have you seen how low he runs it? Mine is standard and more than comfortable enough for a cheap sports car (I'm 6ft 4)
It hasn't ever failed me and the service/help from Toyota has been fantastic. They're more than happy to fix any issues on my 3 year old used car. They said they can pick my car up or I can drop it off and get a Courtesy car etc.
It does have a dip where it goes from all the low down torque and switches over to the power band, you can remap it out and increase the rev limiter at the same time. Tbh I've got use to driving it so. It's no different from a VTEC or Renaults VVTi systems... in fact any VVTI engine I've driven!
Much Respect to that man. Some very tasteful mods you have there. Love that Ducktail
I have a combination of Tein coilovers and Whiteline ARB's and they are just better in every way.
One man's waste of money is another Man's pleasure. As a serial modifier myself I'm of the opinion it's a massive waste of money that has endless value.

The biggest difference I'd say was from the tyre change. The first time I tried the RSR's after the stock primacies was a revelation LankyLegoHead said:

The torque dip can't be removed by changing the mapping alone, but can be removed by fitting a certain design of exhaust manifold and then mappingI've never heard of any rusting accept this guys.

I've been told that the remap removes it / makes it unnoticeable by most. Either way, its part of the character of the engine and engine and you learn to work around it!CuthbertBSc said:
What insurance company do you use? I had a look at quotes based on if I were to get my GT86 chipped (25bhp increase) and the cheapest I got was £800, double what I'm paying at the moment.
I use Chris Knott. I pay just under £400 with everything declared. On the map you'll be pretty lucky to get 25bhp - about 10bhp is more usual.DeaconFrost said:

Remap helps but manifold and remap is needed to remove it fully.LankyLegoHead said:

Not wanting to state the obvious but Vtec and vvti are not the same. Vtec also changes the lift of the cam which vvti does not. It is the equivalent of vvtli which as far as I am aware the gt86 does not have.I've never heard of any rusting accept this guys.
