I think that was a production car. This was driven on Clarkson's 100 Top Cars.
Hmm. It had Virage rear lights. I'm pretty sure it was a mule. Dark blue.

Edit: this is the one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d-gAn3piaA
Ah, that one. That was from a Top Gear episode filmed in 1992 and aired in March 1993 and yes, the green car seen pushed out of the engineering shed is the Vantage prototype above. Clarkson wasn't allowed to drive it though and was given the black one (a 'Virtage').

It's very nice but a bit cringey nominating your own car.

The classic - Maserati Quattroporte II (approx 13 built)

Met the owner of this s few years ago when he was over in Scotland. Lovely old chap who let me take a load of photos. I believe he also said his was one of only 3 running? And only 1 with magnesium wheels. (It was for sale a couple of years ago).

Not at all cringey!

Awesome car and most definitely a holy grail car, well done for owning it!

On the mobile, so Cba posting a photo. Holy grail car for me is the coupe NB mx5. Not usually an NB fan either. Love the looks and the increased torsional rigidity must feel better.

1965 Shelby GT350R.

35 made apparently.

More movie car but I'm going through a Hardcastle & McCormick phase. I hope it doesn't last too long, the acting is dire. Thinking going Crazy like a fox next.

My probably unobtainable hypothetical lottery win dream list of "holy-grailers" would be;

F50 GT

R390 GT1 road car

Always loved the stretched 348 that was used as an Enzo test mule, too.

Prototype Vantage. One of a kind, used for the Motorshow launch in 1992 and brochure.

Prototype vantage was red. It was then later used to house the V600 engine that lived in the le-mans edition. Finally being sold by the factory to a collector who has subsequently painted it white...

Gran Turismo got me onto this one and there's also a video of Johnny Herbert thrashing one around Ciruit de la Sarthe on youtube, the noise is unreal!!

Don't really know how this one came about, but I just fell in love!

Stood at a bus stop one morning waiting for the school bus as a 13 year old hellbent on anything car related and this guy pulled out of a side street and hammered the arse of this in the same colour, the noise was unreal and something that still tingles my spine even now!

There were five Development Prototype (DP) cars for the Vantage: DP2055/1 was silver and was a rebuild of the Virage chassis DP2034/3. DP2055/2 was green (the car above) and was the car built to the initial Vantage spec. /3 was gold and was known as the Virtage. /4 was black, also a Virtage, and ended up being crash tested. /5 was red and was built to what became the production spec (revised chassis, floor pan, revised rear end, sills, wipers, front lights,...) 1, 3 and 4 did most of the engine and drive train developments, 5 did most of the press miles. 2 was the Motorshow launch car and brochure car. Eventually 1, 2, 3 (I think) and 5 ended up in the hands of the collector you are probably talking about. 1 was rebuilt with a Vantage front and back and painted green (and has recently been sold to a different collector to be returned to its original silver/red 'Virage' state). 3, if it still exists, is in pieces. 5 was resprayed blue I think (and may also be in pieces). 2 has just undergone a restoration back to its original state.

This is /1 as it is now

/2

/4

/5

(ETA: And as you know, the V600 and the Le Mans were two completely separate developments. Indeed, I don't think the first Le Mans, 70229 was V600 engined).

My memory is faded somewhat but I could swear proto 1 "ap" level was originally red. You are right about number 5 though, and it was definitely used as the proto-Buck for the V600 engine. I worked on the project at Aston Martin at the time, and spent many hours both behind the wheel of "k377"and working on it! smile

Brabus 190E 3.6. A PHer has one, of only 2 RHDs, I think.

Hoping to get him along to a Sunday Service with it and swap it for some magic beans.

Just for being my favourite Group C monster on Gran Turismo.
Bloody nightmare to drive (in Gran Turismo). Struggles to hold traction even in third gear! tongue out
