Had one in an A6 a few years ago..... Hateful thing.

As said already, very noisy & no sense of acceleration. One I had was also quite jerky on light throttle & it rolled backwards on hills because it went into neutral if you took your foot off the throttle.

When I first had it I thought it was a bit broken but they said it wasn't?

My daily is Auto, I know it's non PH but I do a fair bit of town driving sometimes & my left ankle is weak.

I'd never buy anything that has CVT again.

At present there is a limit to how much power you can put through CVT.
a little over 500hp from a 12.4 litre diesel 2400NM @1100rpm and a CVT

It's a shame the cabs are so small, I'd happily give up most of the case tractors I drive for fendts but the 936 we have is so cripplingly small inside especially when compared to a magnum 335
It's palatial compared to the Massey cab paperbag mind, the Case is designed for big, fat americans.

It makes me chuckle about the car CVT nay sayers on here. That AGCO CVT is the best transmission I've used in any machine bar none. On the road I just put it in Pedal Mode and cruise along smokin

You're right I go back to the Fendt every time because it makes life so easy, even case know that because they use the gearboxes in the 8000 series combines, my only issue with them is in the older sub 200hp tractors, either the software or the gearbox was badly programmed because sometimes in soft ground towing a heavy load it would get confused and no matter what you did it would only give you 18kph even if you took full manual control where case and John deeres were doing closer to 25-30kph

I fell out with masseys ever since the first one I drove was an old 90s era with the drop down at the front of the cab that in a day of power harrowing I nailed my head into the can holding glove box endlessly, ever since I've had a thing about low cabs. I love the case for that reason, I have a fridge and a dog with me in the cab and I've had to sleep in the 535/620 a few times and its almost comfortable, something I would dread having to do in a Fendt!

The following two articles are illuminating. Also... CVTs account for more than 10 percent of cars sold in the US (as of 2014).

"He thinks that CVTs are at a natural disadvantage against the latest and best automatic transmissions, and that it's mostly a perception issue, not an issue of performance."

"Manufacturer interest in CVTs has been roused by their efficiency strides. Nissan claimed a 40-percent reduction in friction..."

.
sounds either broken or a poor (early?) implementation. latest are quite the opposite. if it's easy driving at low cost then modern CVTs are ideal. neither are they noisy anymore.

Yes. It was an early one. 2002 2.4 Petrol. I didn't bother with a test drive either because I was replacing the same model & just assumed it wouldn't be any different.

Caveat Emptor & all that!
