There have been many great rally-inspired road cars over the years and I can't really think of a bad one off the top of my head, although I'm sure there is a diesel Citroen Xsara Loeb edition or something out there somewhere!

So, Quattros, Pulsars, Imprezas, Evos, mk1/2 Escort RSs, Cossies. What's you favourite? My favourites are probably the rally-inspired Lancias.

'Harry's Garage' on YouTube did a good review of the Integrale Evo 2.

UR Quattro for me, mainly for the 5 pot snarl.

Winner. Hands down, with the 037 second. And the R200 third.

I need a sit down.

Amazing car both in road and race trim. I wouldn't really call it rally-inspired though - it was the road going version for homologation purposes (200 of them had to be made).

Ordinarily I'd happily agree with the Stratos but... just to be a different I'm going for the MG 6R4 Clubman, the road going version of the nutty 6R4S.

Ugly little bleeder but still, there's a lure there for me, probably because my first two cars were Metro's and I've always had a thing for the later BL stuff, predominantly stuff with a Rover badge. Might just have something to do with having been brought up with BL motors (Acclaim, Dolomite, a succession of Rovers and Austins) even learned the basics of driving at ten in my grandmothers, rusting, Maxi.

I absolutely love these cars and couldn't pick a definite "One" but the Stratos, Intergrale's, Peugeot 205 T16, the Gordini Renault 5, 405 T16. There's just so many, all very fascinating machines very unique in their own special way!

Would have to be either the intergrale's big brother, the delta S4 (or even the ECV), otherwise I would go for a 205 T16. Was a privilege to see these cars at full chat in the forests during the late 80's

Never to be repeated.

Though I do like the idea of a road 037 as very few would have a clue what it was smile

For my generation (born in the 90's) rally has been quite boring, we missed the group B era, RWD, all we get is spaceframed hatchbacks with regulation engines. Gran Turismo gave my generation their rally heroes so thats where I will draw my inspiration from.

Got to be the Lancer Evolution TME, It even has the drivers name on it. COOL.

Yeah I believe they had to, for Homologation. It was rubbish, and it looks it too.
