Have you ever noticed how on these either/or threads that you can spot the real imbeciles by the fact they give one or two words for the option they do want but a whole lot more bile and recycled funnyisms for the option they don't want?

IMO the FRS is substance over style and the Mustang style over substance

Having lived in the US I have some experience with previous generations of muscle cars and have to say as stock they're generally a bit over hyped. The benefit comes with the aftermarket stuff, I'd want to drive this Mustang first but I would guess it could be massively improved in ride and handling.

For me std FRS modified Mustang.

Perhaps having a black convertible wasn't the best idea in death valley, but the aircon worked well with the roof up

Actually on PH as a whole, some people seem to see raving about how good a car is as "fanboyism", whereas saying a car is rubbish makes you (they think) seem discerning.

Even when you drive a 10-year-old Vauxhall or something.

Mustang. 100%. Proper heritage to original fast fords and we've been asking for a RHD for years. As mentioned earlier big V8 in normal cars won't be a thing for much longer. It's also one of the best looking coupes i'be seen in a while.

Focus RS just seems to get watered down with every generation. No racing, no trick bits, no outlandish styling. Just recycled parts added to the worse looking focus since they started making them. It'll be a good car but doesn't have the magic of earlier RS cars. It's basically just a trim level now.

I think the Focus RS for me. I really do think Ford have got it just right this time with the styling and package.

In fact, once they start hitting the showrooms, I may go and have a nosey at one as I'll be about ready to chop in the M235i by then.

I'd say the latest RS is anything but a trim level update?

It would be the Mustang V8 for me and I have so much want for one certainly, I was watching a video the other day of the RS and its drift mode feature did look really good for what is a 4WD car, the motoring press are waxing lyrical over the RS and its a really good time to be a Ford fan for sure.

I would love both though as a few other posters have mentioned. smokin

Golf GTI - Golf R
Audi S3 - Audi RS3
Focus ST - Focus RS.

It's a trim level update.

You appear to have a rather unusual definition of "trim level", most people wouldn't consider the entire drive-train after the gearbox to be "trim". Presumably you'd also consider things like the M3 to be "just a trim level update" over a 335i as well?

Or indeed an Evo compared to a cooker Lancer?

The FRS for me easily, but I'd take the V8 Mustang if I lived in the US. They just always seem out of place to me in England.

Yes. Still it's not unusual on PH to have to defend buying an M3 as it's a 'tarted up reps car' biggrin

Explain to me how ST to RS is any different to Golf GTI to Golf R?

Upgraded body kit / wheels
Added AWD.
Upgraded interior
Changed engine.

It's a trim level upgrade. Like the R, like the RS, like the A45.

Mustang for me. Nice as the FRS is, it's not a V8 Mustang.

I didn't say it wasn't? I don't consider teh R to be a trim level upgrade on the GTi either because I don't consider the drive-train to be "trim".
