This is definitely on my list. I had a look inside a Macan recently, and although I'm sure it'll drive fine, I just cant get on with that button-fest of a centre console.
Off topic, but recent spy shots of the new Panamera have shown a de-buttoned centre console, so Porsche may have realised the error of their ways with that and we might see the same applied to the Macan.

@Brave fart.
The high spec 2.0ltr diesel will be very good. I would expect this to cost less than the Ford sourced V6.
You may have to wait a year for it though.

This is by far the best looking Jag ever, the Gold is amazing.

I too had a hand in this, so quite pleased it's going down well.

The V6D with the 8 Speed auto is just sublime, I hated diesel with a passion before I started at JLR, when I first drove that combo it completely changed my perception.

Still, I haven't had one of these to play in yet frown

Now Jaguar is very keen to stress that the F-Pace is a sports car first and foremost
Pull the other one eh!

This is a sports car:

Never had that as a sports car. Ugly GT, yes. Sports car, no.

I'm guessing you'd both rather scroll through the multiple menus using a twiddly knob to select your preference, rather than push a single button?

Horses for courses as they say!
For me it's not the buttons but the shape and the general ugliness of the thing.

Isn't there a happy balance between the two? Or do I actually need a physical button to advance the clock an hour every spring?

Will sell by the bucketload in Asia as well where the Jag branch has big cred. Can't wait to test drive it myself.

Looks much better than I envisaged and the whole Jag range is starting to loose its golf club and pringle sweater image and appeal to a much younger (40s) audience. However, why do they insist on putting a birdst on the steering wheel and boot (Whats wrong with the circular Jag logo?) - it just doesnt look right!

Slightly failing to understand what's happened the the Jag Sportbrake (Estate)? Makes me wonder what the fleet drivers of XF Estates are going to do when the leases expire as they are not going to end up in one of these and there is no mention of an XE or XF Sportbrake coming soon.

With the F-Pace being based on the XE it's a kind of a two finger salute to those buyers of XF Sportbrakes. I have a BMW so no axe to grind but would consider an XF Sportbrake if such a thing existed

I like most of Jaguars offerings but this is completely lost on me. A Jaguar SUV is just wrong and SUVs without serious off road hardware make no sense to me. I'm sure however most of the populace will disagree with me and they'll sell like hot cakes.
Strangely, I've held the different view. Sure 4x4s are meant for off-road usage but modern SUVs are just the evolution of the big, premium saloon or estate car. All the luxury and benefits of a big, premium saloon but with the capacity benefits of an estate and a better driving position.

In the regard you would have expected Jaguar, a company that since the 70s has arguably only really made premium saloons to have added an SUV much earlier.

And as recognised by the less premium SUV offerings on the market there isn't any need for AWD or off-road gizmos with these cars. Those features are really just genetic throw backs in evolutionary terms, like the leg bones on a snake.

Agreed. I really rather detest the centre console in modern Porsches.
I don't get cars with all those small buttons. It looked st 30 years ago on £50 hifis from Makro and it still looks cheap and nasty today. They might as well go the whole hog and pebble dash the exterior.

Aged 32 last year I purchased my first Jag. A XFS Sportbrake in 'Italian Racing Red'. it was 16 months old with 8,700 miles on the clock. Being an ex Jag Mgt car it had a number of extras on the already high spec (20" wheels, Meridian sound etc) & was £35k. I believe list was somewhere in the region of mid to high £50k's.

I love the practicality of the estate and don't enjoy driving tall cars (i learnt to drive in an Espace so that has probably put me off) but I can see myself trading in in 3 years against a 1yr old F Pace.

I think it's great for Jaguar & judging my the amount of XE's now on the road people are moving out of the A4/3 series into these (or the new C-Class). It will be interesting to see how BMW/Audi respond

If this sells as well as it looks like it will then I'm all for it as it'll keep plenty employed in the UK. If they use some of the money to develop SVR versions of the rest of the range then even better, even though I can't afford a SVR version of anything.

What I find most surprising is that we now have two very good mid size SUVs (Macan and F-Pace) aimed at people who want to drive rather than need to drive. Shows how far things have moved on.

Last time I checked the F-Pace configurator the 2l derv started at £34k, and that includes leather and the basic sat nav.

I saw one of these (white) on the M6 Northbound on Tuesday with no camouflage so had assumed the car was fully launched but it appears not. Do dealers have cars yet?

All told it did look quite the thing & a little bigger than i expected, kind of between the Macan & Cayenne, where as i thought it would be the same size as a Macan/Q5.

You will never see another one of these either off-road or on anything other than 22inch rims. Seems a shame they go to all the trouble of designing the tricky electronics and 4x4 systems when they'll never be used.
So what is the basis for this assertion?
Because almost all of them will be on 22 inch wheels with 35 profile tyres and you can't drive over rocks with 35 profile tyres. Why do you think all of the test cars in this article where on 19s? "Driving through a muddy field" does not equal "off road". Any part-time 4wd estate would work equally well in this situation without the compromised ride height.
