Protein shake disaster*
Discussion
The only protein shake I've ever found anywhere that I can actually drink is Maximuscle Cyclone Orange flavour. But since they rebranded to Maxinutrition they've stopped doing that flavour which is a kiss of death for me. I need either a job lot of old stock of orange flavour or a good tasting alternative. Everything chocolate, vanilla etc tastes arse.
Ideas?
* Disaster in the PH sense of the word. Not biblical, quite.

Do you actually need the protein shake?
Food is always the better option if possible.
Have you looked at mass gainers?
I found they were the best tasting - probably due to sugars but as long as you don't go over on calories, you won't gain unwanted weight.
Actually I avoided mass gainers because of all the sugar (Cyclone is quite low sugar) from back when I was trying to maintain <19% BF. But since then I've decided I need to eat more as I wasn't satisfied with my overall muscle mass. And I struggle to get enough calories in. So I guess I could revisit mass gainers (as I seem to be in the midst of a dirty bulk anyway). It might at least help me cut out some crap food. Food is always the better option if possible.

I don't get how people have a problem with protein shakes. I've only ever tried the unflavoured whey from MyProtein. Doesn't taste of much, well, it tastes a little like powdered milk if used with water and not noticable if used in milk. *shrugs*
This. Buy unflavoured and add your own flavour.ambuletz said:

Same here. My view is the longer it takes to consume something, eg a meal, the tastier it needs to be. An unflavoured protein shake should be downed in less than 10 seconds between your walk from the gym to the changing room / car park. ViperPict said:
Heard too many stories about poor quality protein powders (basically lying about ingredients and nutritional content).
I try and eat whole food when possible and, when not able to, only trust Reflex products really. The cheap discount brands are a false economy in my view.
Thats the same for any 'product' where it gives you a matrix/cocktail of ingredients but doesnt state how much of each ingredient but gives a combined figure.I try and eat whole food when possible and, when not able to, only trust Reflex products really.
