So, curious - there's a lot of cars I have seen but for whatever reason, there's one small (or large) thing they didn't make them with which manages to put me off a car that otherwise ticks all my boxes.

I am sure there must be plenty of people out there who think the same. For me, it's the BMW M6 (E63)... I love the look (believe it or not), the idea, the sound, the performance... but I just can not get over the SMG gearbox. Try as I might. If they did one I would certainly have one on the driveway right now.

A modern Maserati with a manual gearbox (proper 3 clutch jobbie). I love the looks, the N\A engines have loads of character and sound sensational, the interiors are lush and the badge has got heritage and kudos in bucket-loads. If they did a Quattroporte or Gran Turismo with a proper 3 pedal manual, I'd have one on my drive now.

The new M3 with a proper engine, love the looks, love the fact you can still get it with 3 pedals, don't like the new engine. I'm not totally opposed to it being turbocharged but just wish they'd done a bit more to make it a bit more special, instead it feels like a re-mapped 335i with the same diesel like power delivery that makes nearly all modern turbo-charged engines anathema to me.

Usually it's a lack of a manual gearbox for me- I expect many PHers would say the same thing.

More so regarding AMG Mercedes for me. They would be far more appealing, especially something like the SLK55.

I wish Triumph would build their Speed Triple R with a proper fairing. They haven't made a litre sports bike since the Daytona T595/955i went out of production. I love the Speed Triple R but it would be even better with a fairing to keep that wind blast down.

It would be well 'off pace' from the Japanese and German bikes making 200bhp but it'd still be knocking out 140bhp. That is an excellent figure for the road, and still obscenely fast by any standard. It'd fit nicely into the niche the Daytona 955i filled, which wasn't as competitive as the Japanese bikes but made an excellent road bike for other reasons.

I'd also love to see the S2000 and the MR2 return with hybrid drivetrains.

The last RS Clio 200. I can see why they made the dual clutch semi-auto an option but should have been able to opt for a manual as well. That's what makes for fun in a hot hatch in my opinion, especially something like a Clio!

- Merc C63
- 991 GT3
- Any Ferrari >2010

Yep - or simply a litre Daytona!

I absolutely adored my 675, but wish there was a proper batst model further up the range.

Learn to use it properly and do the SMG reset procedure.

SMG moaning is pretty tiresome from people who've driven it for 15 mins in auto mode expecting it to drive like an auto box. Not necessarily directed at you OP as I don't know how long you've tried it for, but I find it absolutely fine even living in London. And then when you take it to the Nurburgring everything makes sense!!

I couldn't believe how critical Car magazine were with its recent group test of the M4 and they absolutely slated the engine and just described it similar to a gutsy diesel engine and if that isn't a massive put down then I don't know what is.

I didn't agree with them though saying that they preferred the last generation V8 version more but it does seem that BMW have missed the mark with the current engine though for reward and satisfaction.
