Indeed and my E92 M3 was a manual even though I do think the V8 suits the DCT better.

I would have really liked that V8 in my Z4M for sure.
It's even lighter than the S54 too. Would be interesting to see it done. The 1 series coupé that quarry motors did with the S65 sounds like a great idea.

Bit of a Ford fan so...

The current Fiesta, available in the UK in Europe only as a 3dr, but available in the US as a 5-door.

Similarly the new Focus ST is available as an Auto (in Diesel only) now, so if they were to do similar with the Fiesta - 5door Auto ST - then it would be the perfect weekday runabout for the Mrs then something I can enjoy driving at the weekend.

If ever there's a car that should have been rwd, it's the 2.2 vti prelude.

Also just been promptedd to remember that they never did a gt4 type version of the latest Celica, only the GT. It's nice, but a turbo lump with 4wd in that shell would have been fantastic imo.

Holden Commodore VF SS wagon with.... a manual box. The sedan can be bought with a manual, but not the wagon. Every generation of V8 Commodore before the VF could be bought as a manual in both sedan and wagon, but the VF, which is the first Commodore I've ever thought about owning, is auto-only for the wagon. Shame really, as its either 6.0 or 6.2 V8, rwd, and huge inside for the price of a 1.8 Audi A4 - what's not to like? Will still get one though.

Another would be the Volvo V70 T6 with manual, more power, less weight, better steering, smaller steering wheel, more room for the left foot, and lower sense of impending doom.

A Citroen DS with either 6 or an 8.

Actually the 2.9 v6 Maserati engine in the SM will do.

Fiat Barchetta with an extra 30BHP, RHD. I'd even forgive it for being FWD.

By the same token I can't help but wonder how many more GT86s had sold if they'd made an "S" from the factory, with a supercharger or something.

Citroen did a one-off SM prototype with a V8 too... I'd love to own that V8-powered wifty-wafty 70s spaceship. smile

To the original question:
Anything that didn't come with a V8 as standard... why didn't they do one with a V8?

I'm not sure a V8 Twingo would work so well.

I dunno.. rear wheel drive, tiny hot hatch with a big V8, what's not to love?
