A new Ford SportKa!

The last one was such a laugh, nearly 100bhp, tonnes of grip, great gearbox and looked funky. Engine was a bit old skool but fundamentally it was such good fun!

I'd love to see the current Ka get the wide arches, bigger wheels and a tuned verion of the 1.0 Ecoboost engine, only 120-130bhp would be needed. Just needs a sorted chassis to match and some SportKa styling, would be great! smile

X3 with the N55 (or newer B58) engine.....(well actually, they do make the X3 in RHD with the N55 for the South African market, just not for UK/Europe where the diesel obsession continues unabated)

I couldn't believe how critical Car magazine were with its recent group test of the M4 and they absolutely slated the engine and just described it similar to a gutsy diesel engine and if that isn't a massive put down then I don't know what is.

I didn't agree with them though saying that they preferred the last generation V8 version more but it does seem that BMW have missed the mark with the current engine though for reward and satisfaction.
Don't get me wrong, it's a hugely competent engine and for day-to-day driving it's better than the old V8. The problem is IMO an M car has to be able to do the hair-on-fire thing as well as it does the daily grind and in that regard the new engine is definitely lacking, it gives up just where the old V8 got going.

I know quite a lot of people, yourself included found the old engine a bit too much hard work but the new one has gone too far the other way. If they could have made the new engine with the flexibly it has in the low\mid range but with the fireworks that the old one provided at the top end, it would be the perfect car. I'm still waiting for someone besides the 6 figure exotics like Ferrari or Mclaren, to make a modern turbo-charged engine with some character.
Yes I agree and you make a very good point and I enjoyed reading your take on it.

+1 = a modern day CRX.

But then again would it be much different to a GT86 which gets slated??

Decent and more varied upholstery and interior trim options...too many cars with dubious patterns / only available in black.

A GT86 with more horsepower. (Has that been discussed on PH already?)
I cannot believe how long this has been for sale.

A PHer really needs to snap this up. It's one hell of a car. I'm pretty sure £25k would buy it. Maybe less.

suprised nobody has said power steering. Seems to be that everyone in the last decade hated cars that used electric instead of hydraulic.
Very true.
Actually I don't think it's true at all. IMO the issue is with the implementation rather than a blanket "electric is bad".

I can't recall any people slating the RX-8's steering and that is electric.

BMW M3 estates. I'd be all over one of those yet they leave it to Mercedes and Audi. Although I'd also pondered what a drop top M6 V10 would be like.

Honda should make a Jazz Type R, I'm not sure how much hp considered acceptable these days, but I'll start the bidding at 160. Then when they've done that they should make a 1000cc sports tourer in the same mold as my PC41 CBR600F, I'll take 130hp, a more comfy riding position and some useful touring option. Finally can Agco put their hands in the pockets and supply £100,000+ tractors with a decent fking radio?

This. An M3 estate would have been awesome, more fun than the options from Audi or Mercedes IMO.

It doesn't actually bother me sitting on the wrong side in the Fiat.

Honda should stop pissing about. Make the proper NSX, with a V10 as per the racer. Then they should make a modern day RC30.
I'll take one of each each please

As much as I loved my 7th Gen Celica (2ZZ, 190hp model), I can't help but feel Toyota missed a trick with it.

A proper successor to the GT4 with a turbo and 4WD could have made it a proper Jap great. It certainly had the looks to my eye at least.

I guess it was never realistic due to the Gen7 having no rally swag (ugh, sorry). Even a hotter FWD Gen7 may have been a non-starter, as I don't recall Toyota having a suitable 2.0 FI lump knocking about at the time...
