BMW M3 estates. I'd be all over one of those yet they leave it to Mercedes and Audi. Although I'd also pondered what a drop top M6 V10 would be like.
And yet at the time, BMW's rational for denying us such was that it perverted the ethos of the M3 (i.e. #becauseracecar).Oh how we laugh now.

I assume, if they did make one, it'd have understeer designed into the handling characteristics like the new Renault Twingo does (although I wouldn't expect Fiat to move the engine). That short wheelbase would be a liability for many drivers otherwise.daveofedinburgh said:
As much as I loved my 7th Gen Celica (2ZZ, 190hp model), I can't help but feel Toyota missed a trick with it.
A proper successor to the GT4 with a turbo and 4WD could have made it a proper Jap great. It certainly had the looks to my eye at least.
I guess it was never realistic due to the Gen7 having no rally swag (ugh, sorry). Even a hotter FWD Gen7 may have been a non-starter, as I don't recall Toyota having a suitable 2.0 FI lump knocking about at the time...
Those always looked like they should have been RWD. A proper successor to the GT4 with a turbo and 4WD could have made it a proper Jap great. It certainly had the looks to my eye at least.

The GT4 moved to the Caldina after the ST205 (called the ST225).A proper successor to the GT4 with a turbo and 4WD could have made it a proper Jap great. It certainly had the looks to my eye at least.

Which is a shame as they looked awful, dropping the coupe shape.
